One of the last days in Istanbul we spent touring around the blue mosque at Sultanahmet. As most of you know I’m not a huge sightseer but occasionally I do like to partake, especially if it’s something truly special. This was! There is a Four Seasons that sports a rooftop bar just a stones throw away from the mosque. Turns out that the hotel is actually a converted prison! Very interesting and for some reason I felt right at home.
It’s called the A’Ya rooftop lounge and it’s fantastic. After dinner we didn’t waste anytime getting there. Oh lawd! The feeling you get while walking around in this area completely changes at night. During the daytime it’s a super touristic place. It’s nice during the daytime but at night it changes to a very magical wonderland. The people clear out and the rooftop offers a really nice evening breeze.
I have to say that at the end of the day the feeling and the ambiance of the lounge alone was so amazing that we could have been drinking water and it wouldn’t of mattered. Luckily, we were served some very nice cocktails by the bar. They also had nice snacks to enjoy with our drinks that were definitely a big plus in Pierre’s book. Not to mention some attentive staff.
The building is not super tall but offers a nice view of the hotel’s courtyard and the Bosphorus strait. I have to say all of the ducks were in a row and I would definitely return to A’Ya lounge when I’m in Istanbul next time! If you want a real chill lounge vibe with a great view and ambiance then this is your spot! Go ahead, check it out!
