Time and time again we have learned that Pierre loves his breakfast eats. While in London a few weeks ago, he made every effort to seek out some amazing English breakfast’s. While researching for countless hours he came across the Speedy’s Cafe which ranked highly. He was intrigued.
On a side-note, I’ve always wanted to try this infamous black pudding and I was finally in its origin so I had to make its consumption happen. The first diner I went to I didn’t have enough cash to get the belly bursting, full-on English breakfast and they didn’t accept credit cards so I had to get something smaller. Rookie mistake. The next day I made my own luck and brought lots of cash. Boss life.
Speedy’s Cafe was a super local spot near the University of London next to Euston Square station. Local spots with a strong history usually mean a lot of character and these are some of my favorite types of eateries. This place footed the bill. It was confirmed when I was waiting for my food and person after person would enter and order their “usual.” The cooks had all these people’s daily orders memorized and these made me feel warm and fuzzy.
My mother of all breakfasts arrived after a short time and my excitement was building! Pierre tore into this beast of a breakfast with no remorse! It was all great and it was time to try black pudding for the first time. If you didn’t know, black pudding is blood sausage. The texture was drier than typical sausage and crumbled as I chewed. On its own I wasn’t a huge fan but mixing it with bites of other things helped. I also ordered a cup of tea because I felt obligated but also because I love tea. Wink wink.
Anyways, it was my last day in London and oh so happy I made the trip across town to visit the Speedy’s Cafe. I got to try black pudding for the first time and a full-on English breakfast which made my heart melt. It was a big win for #PierreAteIt
On a side-note, London felt amazing with lots of good vibes and a certain quaintness. Pierre can’t wait to visit again! You should make the trip and give Speedy’s Cafe a shot!
