My time in London was very well spent. I really love the city and I could definitely see myself living there! This was my final meal of my eight day London adventure. Everyday Pierre conquered a different restaurant! Just as some of the other establishments I’ve recently visited in London The Grill at The Dorchester hotel has also received a face lift within the last couple of years. I want to start by saying that they have done an incredible job! The design of the dining room is truly remarkable. It’s very a lavish place to enjoy a meal.
Before we even had a chance to fully look over the menu the chef was kind enough to send over some Lemon Sole ‘goujonnettes & chips’ with tartare sauce. Basically the best fish and chips I’ve ever had!
Let me step back a moment and pay homage to our sommelier. He was given the very tough task to impress the incredibly well traveled Pierre Blake. Most would crumble at this job but not him! He paired every dish with very exquisite wines that were exciting! I’m thinking that someone should get a raise. Cough.
Back to the food. We ended up deciding on the blue lobster chowder and the cured ham de Bellota. Both were fantastic and the lobster chowder was rich and well done.
After thoroughly enjoying some wine with the starters we pressed on for a new frontier. For the mains we enjoyed a seabass and a highland wagyu sirloin with béarnaise sauce. To appreciate the meat fully you have to be sure to consume it with the sauce. That’s a little pro tip from Pierre. You’re welcome.
To accompany the dishes we went with seasonal vegetables to pretend we’re healthy along with mashed potatoes. Both were very tasty and a great addition to be paired with each entrée.
As I’ve stated in other articles it seems like everywhere in London you can find a dessert with rhubarb. So for overdosing on rhubarb the other days we ordered a contemporary lemon tart and a Sicilian pistachio soufflé with salted caramel.
The lemon tart knocked my socks off. If you don’t believe me there were witnesses to my astonishment and my socks were off my feet and on the floor. What an amazing way to end a meal! The soufflé was slightly less thrilling but the best soufflé I’ve had in London during my trip!
You know what I’m going to say, this was a fantastic meal. The food was full of great flavor with lots of depth. The chef truly has a good understanding of how to create fantastic food. The wine was also equally amazing always greatly paired with the food. Flavors were refreshing. Cheers to everyone at the restaurant! I would highly recommend you to visit The Grill at the Dorchester in London! Go go go!
