There were two dinners that I was super excited about before even stepping foot in London this year. One of them happened to be a restaurant by Wolfgang Puck called CUT at the 45 Park Lane hotel. The name was very fitting considering the copious amount of meat that they offer. It’s business time.
We walked in and were escorted to the rear of the dining room. It’s a dark dining room with dark furniture which looks calm and relaxed. This is contrasted a bit by some aggressive music. There are giant light fixtures that remind me of blimps hanging the full length of the dining room. Overall, Pierre likes.
We were already quite full from days of eating but we toughed it out for you, my lovely readers! You’re welcome. Wink. Our server was of the friendly variety and understood my jokes so I was happy.
Before we could get very far we received some small bites, compliments of the chef. The first really set my mood which was a small tuna ice cream cone. All right, it wasn’t an ice cream cone but it appeared to be one. The taste in this little tuna was exquisite!
We dove into depths of the menu unknown to most and astonished the world by the amounts of food we ordered. We started with a tuna tartare and a crab and lobster “Louis.” Of course we also had some champagne to warm up our bodies for the work ahead. The tuna was served with wasabi so I was thrilled!
I’m also a huge fan of olives so when the staff brought olive bread I wanted to dance. So far, so amazing.
When it came time for the big show we were prepared to dazzle the audience. We chose a steak tasting platter which includes some of the finest meats from Australia, the UK and the USA. All melted in our mouths like butter but I must say that I preferred the steak from the UK the most!
For the second entree we ordered the Shanghai Angry Lobster. Don’t let the name fool you, it was actually very pleasant. They were even so kind to bring some extra chili to spice up my life to the point where I could barely feel my face. Pierre satisfaction… cough cough I mean pure satisfaction.
This was just half of the battle though. The second half was all of the amazing side dishes. We ordered the macaroni and cheese, spinach with egg and of course some potatoes. I was trying to stay healthy but the spinach was so creamy something tells me I was going down the wrong path. Everything was great.
Oh my God! The dessert that is burned into my skull is the bruléed banana cream pie! This was absolutely incredible. The bananas foster ice cream was just light enough to compliment it perfectly. Although the soufflé had a great presentation and texture the taste was not a huge game changer.
Overall, the experience at CUT was grand. The service was on point and the food was wonderful. There were a few minor shortcomings like maybe they could’ve chose some less intense music but I’ll let it slide because of the great food. When it’s all said and done I would happily recommend you to visit CUT when you’re in London!
