Lately, I’ve been eating so much dim sum that I’m now practically Chinese. Lucky for me, I love dim sum so it’s not an issue. While staying at the St. Regis hotel in Singapore, I visited their Yan Ting restaurant for a dim sum brunch. You can also read about their Italian restaurant here.
I’ve actually never had this type of dim sum brunch. It reminded me of afternoon tea because they had free-flow champagne. This is always a nice touch! Of course, I also had to order tea which they’re always so good at refilling. During dim sum meals, I always drink way too much tea because they never stop refilling. I don’t know why, but I can’t stop drinking when they keep filling up my cup.
The dining room was absolutely filled with people. I don’t think I saw one empty table which is always a good sign. I think I might’ve been the only westerner in the entire restaurant, which is also a good sign when you’re eating dim sum because it means it has an authentic taste. Dim sum menus are quite large so I simply went through and chose all of my favorites. I didn’t go too crazy because I had a very large meal the night before at their Italian restaurant called La Brezza.
There were too many dishes to talk about them all, but I will highlight a few of my favorites. Obviously the typical dim sum dumplings were great. These are typically great in most places. What set this meal apart had to be the assorted meat plate. These were some of the most tasty and juicy meets that I have had. Seriously, they were on fire, so tasty and good, I loved it!
The other very memorable part of the experience were the desserts. The one that really caught my attention was a ball that was covered in sesame seeds. To be honest, I can’t recall the name but it was something very authentic Chinese. The service staff recommended it to me and dear lord was it amazing! The texture was crispy and beautiful on the outside, yet soft and warm on the inside, just like Pierre. Super tasty and heartwarming. Wink.
All in all, the meal at Yan Ting was on point, as I would expect. Judging from the quality of the rest of the hotel, I just knew that it would be great. The dining room was gorgeous, the food was magnificent and the staff was so very kind. If you’re looking for a fantastic place to have Cantonese food while in Singapore, I would recommend you to visit Yan Ting inside of the St. Regis hotel!

On my most recent trip to Singapore, I had a chance to visit one of my favorite hotel brands, the Intercontinental. The hotel is located near the Bugis MRT station. From there it was easy to explore Singapore. The hotel has recently undergone an update and it showed. I love when a hotel is fresh!
I found it interesting that they were inspired by the surrounding area for interior. Apparently, the traditional Singaporean shop houses were a large inspiration for the redesign. They’ve incorporated a notorious pattern that existed in the shop houses into many aspects of the rooms. Regardless of this, the room still had a very strong Intercontinental feel, which I love. Clean design with light colors and high-quality everything make Pierre happy.
The bathroom was also in the same design and very bright. There was a large bathtub and shower to stay squeaky clean!
One of the aspects of the Intercontinental brand that I enjoy the most, are their lounges. I’ve stayed in about 10 intercontinental properties around the world and they are very consistent in the quality. The way the afternoon tea was setup at this Intercontinental was actually offered in a different way than the other properties. Instead of going with the buffet assortment, they offered afternoon tea towers. They will replenish whatever you would like which is obviously very nice. However, in the big scheme of things, I prefer the buffet style that most of the Intercontinental hotels have.
The relaxation areas and fitness areas have also been updated. I love new fitness equipment! Everything in the gym was brand-new and working great. Really, an impressive amount of equipment. The pool is located one floor up from the fitness center. It has a fantastic view of the rest of Singapore. I headed up at night to capture some beautiful shots.
All this fitness and work got me excited for breakfast the next morning. I also went for breakfast in the executive lounge. The first day they offered a buffet selection and the second day it was à la carte. Both days the food was quite good and they have a great selection of both western and local dishes.
I stayed at the property for two nights and must say that it was a pleasure. Actually, I almost forgot to mention that the previous hotel had broken a handle of our luggage but we didn’t have time to fix it. The Intercontinental was kind enough to have the luggage handle repaired! Talk about service! To be honest, I wouldn’t expect anything less than the best with the Intercontinental brand. The property is beyond beautiful and I had a great stay. If you’re looking for a great hotel with a great location and good service, I would recommend you to stay at the Intercontinental hotel in Singapore!

While staying at the fantastic St. Regis hotel in Singapore, I had a chance to have a dinner at their Italian restaurant called La Brezza. As you know from reading the St. Regis article, the restaurant is overlooking the pool. This creates quite a nice atmosphere!
The first thing I noticed about the restaurant was the soundtrack. Throughout the entire evening, they played Frank Sinatra and this makes Pierre very happy. I don’t think I could have a bad time when they’re playing old blue eyes. Not long after we were seated, we were of course served wine and bread.
For an appetizer we had cheese along with anchovies on more bread. Anchovies always make Pierre happy. Good choice La Brezza. Afterwards it was time for the salad, a seafood salad. All the seafood was cooked to perfection and I especially enjoyed the capers.
Up next was the porcini mushroom soup with chicken breast. This felt like something my mother would make. It was very rich and creamy, it really hit the spot. Definitely, one of my favorites from the evening.
After this was a ravioli filled with chicken, pork and veal. The taste was quite good, however, the filling was slightly dry. This was yet another dish that had that heartwarming feel to it. There were a few more dishes including codfish and a veal chop. I must say that the veal chop was magnificent!
We finished off the evening with ricotta cheese and fruit terrine with pistachio gelato. The pistachio gelato was especially delicious.
Throughout our evening, we were taken care of by a very courteous gentleman. The rest of the staff was very attentive as well. My takeaways from the experience were a fantastic atmosphere, good food and flawless service. If you’re looking for a good Italian meal in Singapore, I would recommend you to check out La Brezza inside of the St. Regis hotel.

La Brezza Restaurant Review: Authentic Italian Food in Singapore
After a magnificent stay in Kuala Lumpur, it was time to head over to Singapore. The first hotel that I visited was the St. Regis. This was actually my first introduction to the St. Regis brand, and I must say I was very excited! If you’re familiar with Singapore, then you’ll know Orchard Street. The hotel is about a five minute walk from the Orchard MRT station.
Singapore is not very big and this is a great place to be. This is where you can find all of the high-end designer brands and many hotels. You’ll quickly notice the strong feeling of luxury when you walk in the front doors of the hotel. You’re welcomed to a very large and impressive lobby.
After an effortless check-in, I was escorted up to the room. I must say that I was super excited because I was already enjoying the design throughout the hotel. When I entered the room, I fell in love. We all have our personal preferences, and I must admit that this is my favorite style. Classic yet elegant luxury.
The way that everything fit together was flawless. Dare I say that this is the most cohesively designed hotel room that I have ever visited? I dare. I did not spot one flaw throughout my stay. Not only is the bedroom beautiful, the bathroom is simply gorgeous!
Of course, everything was covered with marble and there were two separate sinks. The bathroom is equipped with a beautiful bath in the center. There’s a very conveniently located TV in the mirror and it makes a great place to relax. Heaven.
During the stay, I also had a chance to try their signature massage. This is a massage where they use hot stones to loosen and relax your muscles. I must say that this was a phenomenal massage. My first ever hot stone massage and afterwards, I felt like I was walking on a cloud. Perfection.
In the spa area, they also have an area called the wet room. They have one in each of the male and female locker rooms. Just as the rooms are super cohesive, the design of the wet room was just gorgeous. If you’re wondering, these are where the sauna, jacuzzi and steam rooms were. Gorgeous!
Not far away is their gym and outdoor pool. It’s all on the same floor. The convenience is unreal. The gym is wonderful. Lots of new equipment and it overlooks the pool which is always a great touch. They also have their Italian restaurant on the same floor. You’ll be able to read about my dinner there in a separate article.
For the privileged, they offer a cocktail hour that is accompanied with canopes in the evening hours. It’s always a nice way to relax after a long stressful day of eating. Wink.
During my time at the hotel, I was able to experience breakfast in two locations. One was in the main dining room. The design was of course gorgeous like the rest of the hotel. The food was also of high-quality. However, the hotel was so busy I felt a little claustrophobic. I believe it was because I just hit it during a peak period. All in all, the breakfast there was nice.
The second place I was able to experience breakfast was of course the boss way, with room service. I prefer the private atmosphere of room service the most. The food was delicious. Is there anything better than sitting in your bathrobe, eating breakfast in the privacy of your own room? The answer is no, it’s the best thing in the world.
A feature I really enjoyed was the St. Regis butler service. Lots of hotels have butlers but this was above and beyond the norm. Instead of simply sitting back and waiting for you to request something, they were active in making sure you had a pleasant stay. For example, they offered to draw a bath without even being asked. Not just any bath, a magical bubble bath accompanied with champagne and chocolate. If this isn’t heaven, I don’t know what is.
On the day of checkout, the hotel went above and beyond again with service. They offered a private transfer in one of their Bentleys. It was much appreciated!
As I said earlier, this was my first stay at a St. Regis hotel and I was definitely made into a believer. I really hope that this is the quality I will receive at all of the St. Regis properties in the future. Every aspect of the stay was wonderful. When I go on vacation, I want to be pampered and taken care of and that’s exactly what I got at the St. Regis in Singapore. I’m not even being paid to say this folks. The St. Regis is fantastic and I highly recommend that you visit them in Singapore!

The St. Regis Singapore: Review of a Flawless Hotel
If you read the article about the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Kuala Lumpur you’ll know that I had a fantastic trip. If you haven’t had a chance, go read that article first! While at the hotel I had a chance to eat a lunch and a dinner at their Aqua restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the pool!
The pool view in the daytime and the nighttime is just gorgeous. Beyond the pool there is a large public park which adds to the already relaxing atmosphere. Let’s first talk about the lunch. I enjoyed the lunch poolside, inside one of their cabanas. These are very comfortable and a great place to relax.
We started with some mocktails to help cool off from the hot weather. Both were exquisite and refreshing. This was actually my second meal in Kuala Lumpur. When I found out that they had Laksa on the menu, I had to try it. The staff informed me that they had recently revamped the recipe. I must say this is a truly awe inspiring dish. All I need is spicy noodles and I’m happy!
We also ordered dumplings, mozzarella and sushi. Out of everything, the Laksa was my favorite and I drank it right down to the last drop!
We ate so much at lunch but we actually returned for dinner in the evening. Even though the location was the same, the feeling changed. At night the vibe was quite intimate and had a very cool vibe. A calm night breeze while sitting poolside is always enjoyable.
We decided to order on the lighter side because we were still so full. We stuck with mostly seafood, including shrimp tapas, prawn salad and fish. Going along with the theme from lunch, all of the dishes were great. Plus we had this amazing view to enjoy while we ate.
The night was winding down and we finished with their exquisite desserts. One was a durian and mango ice cream and the other was a chocolate lava cake. Once again everything was great!
Throughout both meals, the service was fantastic. We were waited on very well. Great job Mandarin Oriental staff. I must say that if you’re looking for a quick bite to eat or a full meal and you want a special setting, then you should definitely try the Aqua restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Pierre has been known to enjoy food from all around the globe. On his most recent trip to the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, he had a chance to eat at their famous Cantonese restaurant. The name of this restaurant is Lai Po Heen and is quite popular with locals and travelers alike.
The restaurant has the traditional interior design that you see in most Cantonese restaurants. This restaurant is on the classier side seeing that it is inside of the Mandarin Oriental hotel.
Lucky for me this was a meal with five people. This insured that I got to try a wide variety of dishes including some of my favorites. We started the meal off with an order of turnip cake which is nice and spicy. A “must order” in my opinion and here it was extra flavorful!
Of course, another one of my absolute favorites is hot and sour soup. This is a soup that I must order every time I visit a Chinese restaurant. I haven’t had them in years, but I also had to sample their chicken feet. They had me strutting like a rooster.
The food kept coming and coming, without any end in sight. Then it was pecking duck time! Super moist and full of flavor. Delicious.
A memorable part of the dining experience was one of the recommended mocktails. It paired perfectly with all of the food. There were too many dishes to name all of them but just know that the consistency was very high and all were quite amazing. Actually, none of the dishes disappointed me whatsoever. Everything was phenomenal even when it came to presentation.
For dessert, we were recommended the durian and mango pancakes. I was very intrigued by the thought of these. Inside there were pieces of the fruits with cream. The Durion was a bit stronger in flavor but still enjoyable. The mango was obviously good. I mean who doesn’t like mango?
This dining experience was nothing less than splendid. I really have no complaints. The service was impeccable and the food was super delicious. I love the atmosphere and you could tell that everyone else did too because it was busy. If you’re looking for a wonderful Cantonese meal, I would highly recommend you to visit Lai Po Heen inside of the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

Asia you’ve done it again! My first trip to Malaysia went off without a hitch. I arrived in the late evening also known as the night. I headed to immigration only to find out that it was like walking through mall security. Waiting at the Kuala Lumpur airport was a nice gentleman from the Mandarin Oriental hotel. He showed me to my private airport transfer. Before I knew it, I was being whisked away to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel that is next door to the Petronas towers. If you’re unfamiliar, these are the most recognizable buildings in Malaysia.
Having boss status everywhere allowed me to check in the elevator on the way to the room. I arrived at my suite only to find trays of chocolates, specialty sodas and of course a bottle of champagne. Thanks for the warm welcome Mandarin Oriental!
Exhausted from the recent flight from Thailand, it was off to sleep but not before getting some fantastic images of the suite. Very spacious indeed. A notable feature was the fantastic view of the park below.
The next morning it was down to inspect their newly renovated gym, spa, pool and relaxation areas. This is really quite an impressive floor. I could easily stay busy there all day long. All the equipment in the gym is fresh. The locker rooms incorporate tons of areas to relax including a jacuzzi, sauna, relaxation area and steam room. All gorgeous, especially the steam room!
I even had a chance to experience a traditional Malay massage. I’m basically Thai at heart but I must admit that this massage suited me much better than Thai style! I was actually a little sore from all of the Thai massages that I received recently and this one sorted me all out! Great work! I must actually admit something. This was the best massage that I’ve ever had. I wouldn’t lie to you. These women were real experienced and every part of the body scrub and massage felt amazing. I walked out feeling like a new Pierre.
Of course, you know that I had the privilege of lounge access during my stay. It was quite wonderful because the view looked out over the Petronas towers as well as the park. It was styled wonderfully and had amazing food. I have all of the usual offerings including breakfast, afternoon tea as well as cocktail hour in the evening. I love trying the local Malaysian food in the lounge. Comfortable, convenient and tasty!
I mentioned the pool earlier, we had a chance to experience lunch and dinner at the restaurant that sits beside it. It’s called Aqua and you’ll be able to read about it in a separate article. We also had a Cantonese lunch at their amazing Lai Po Heen restaurant. You’ll definitely have to check out these two additional articles as soon as possible!
The Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Kuala Lumpur provides the perfect starting point to explore the rest of the city. It’s right in the center of the action. We were kept busy the entire stay and before I knew it, I was back in a private car for airport transfer. I really must stop and recommend you to schedule an airport transfer to make your life less stressful. Wink.
The Mandarin Oriental brand has yet to disappoint me. It’s important to note that the property will be refurbished soon. They have so much to offer that it’s quite impressive. I really didn’t expect this much! I loved all of the food, the great service, design, location and much more. This was my first time to Kuala Lumpur and I must say it was a success. I’m so happy I had the chance to visit the Mandarin Oriental hotel and I recommend you to do the same as soon as you visit Kuala Lumpur!

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Review (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
Mandarin Oriental Hotel Review (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia)
First of all, let’s talk about the obvious, this property is breathtaking. Situated right on the water, Kata Rocks resort offers some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever seen.
What really makes it special is their infinity pool. They have sun loungers that are sitting right in the water! A magnificent design indeed.
Luckily, when it came to their food and beverage offering, they didn’t miss a beat. First we enjoyed cocktails at the bar. Amazing.
After we warmed up, we started the meal off right with their beetroot tartare, barramundi ceviche and calamari fritura. Just as the resort is beautiful, the food was presented in a very stylish manner. I almost didn’t want to eat these little pieces of art. I fought the urge but my hunger eventually won and I devoured all of these tasty delights.
I learned that the restaurant has been voted number 1 for best burger in the whole of Phuket, so you know I had to try it. A burger with a beer by the pool, how can you go wrong? Drumroll please… Yes, this burger was fantastic! It may not have the most impressive appearance but don’t judge a book by its cover folks. The meat was succulent and juicy. What makes it so amazing is the fact that it is 80% Australian beef and 20% minced pork belly.
Before I knew it I had scarfed down the entire burger and it was time for dessert. The chocolate cake definitely took the cake. Wink.
I don’t think you can go wrong with the restaurant at Kata Rocks. The atmosphere is second to none. We witnessed a beautiful sunset and all of the food was super tasty. If you are looking for some fantastic food with an unbeatable scenery, I would highly recommend you to check out the restaurant at Kata Rocks resort in Phuket, Thailand and order a burger or three!

On my recent trip to Thailand, I visited Phuket. I had the opportunity to experience a few very different but amazing properties. The most recent was the Banyan Tree Tea Sanctuary. This property was the most traditionally Thai out of the bunch. It’s actually several resorts combined into one on a large property. This is great because they have so many facilities including a golf course, loads of swimming pools, multiple restaurants, tennis courts, a spa, a private beach, a gym and more!
For our trip, we arrived in the evening. It was completely dark so we had to wait until the next morning to get some photos and explore the grounds. We were driven to our private villa which offered unlimited massage and the ability to have room service for breakfast. Seriously, the villa was amazing! We had our own private pool, jacuzzi, private steam shower and much more.
Three walls of the bedroom were windows looking out to a beautiful pond that surrounded that side of the villa. The villa also features a large living room equipped with a complementary minibar. Splendid.
I don’t think my words do this property justice. Look at these photos and just admire the beauty! This property almost has too much to talk about, very impressed.
Our journey really began at breakfast. For the first day, we decided to have it in the main restaurant. It was quite a large selection of food. The location and view were gorgeous. The only issue was the fact that there were so many guests. This proves that the property is doing well. However, this also encouraged us to take advantage of the room service the following day. Wink.
After we finished the tasty breakfast, we headed back to our villa. It was only a few hours later and it was time for afternoon tea. This was the first time that I’ve had a complete afternoon tea set delivered by room service. Overall, this was fantastic and added so much to the personalized service.
Our villa included unlimited massage. This means that we could order as many massage treatments as we wanted. Each time we ordered, our private masseuses would visit the villa and give the massages by the pool. I don’t think I ever need to leave!
I also had access to an extraordinary golf course. After the relaxing massage I headed over to brush up my golf game. I didn’t plan for a round of golf, but enjoyed the wonderful driving range.
After realizing that I could easily become a pro golfer, it was back to the villa to clean up and prepare for dinner at their Saffron restaurant. The location is actually just above where the breakfast was. At nighttime this really becomes a magical setting. They have live traditional Thai music being played and an authentic Thai food menu. It all goes together quite nicely. Wink.
As you all know, I’ve lived in Thailand for three years so I know Thai food well. I’m the professional here. The food was extraordinary. We started with some grilled squid which was accompanied with a Thai seafood sauce. From the first few bites I knew the rest of the meal would be fantastic! Two thumbs up.
Later we moved onto several more dishes including morning glory, crab fried rice, a beautiful steak as well as some large prawns. A feast fit for royalty! Of course at the end, we had to finish it off with some crème brûlée. I enjoyed every bite of this meal.
At this point, it was back to the villa via their buggy service which brings you anywhere you want to go and typically arrives within five minutes. A nice relaxing jacuzzi session and swim later and it was time for my handsome sleep. What a day!
The next day we woke up early to play tennis. Another sport which I excel at. Wink. I might be joking. Wink again. Once we finished, it’s back to the villa to receive the room service. I had the gentleman set it up by the pool and it was picture perfect. They even brought the spicy fish sauce that I absolutely love. A perfect breakfast indeed.
I spent two nights perfect nights at the Banyan Tree in Phuket. Just a few hours after breakfast and it was off to the airport via their wonderful transfer service. The weather was perfect throughout the stay and then when we were leaving there was a torrential downpour of rain. Luckily this was no problem because we are already in the car.
When it was all said and done, the Banyan Tree Tea Sanctuary in Phuket, Thailand is a magical place which provides an amazing experience. Honestly, this was one of my favorite resorts of all time. The facilities, service and villas were quite superior to others in the past. The personalized service and attention to detail really made for a flawless experience. They set it up in a way where you will never have to leave your villa, if you don’t want to. You’ll be pampered and waited on hand and foot. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend you to stay here. Next time you visit Thailand, you must visit the Banyan Tree Tea Sanctuary in Phuket!

Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary Review (Phuket, Thailand)
Banyan Tree Spa Sanctuary Review (Phuket, Thailand)
Have I died and gone to heaven? What is going on here? All I hear is chanting and I’m in this giant white room. A man named Angel Arm is giving me a welcome drink and dressed in all white. Turns out, this is all just part of the check in process at the Paresa resort in Phuket, Thailand.
I can say that without a doubt, this is the most interesting check in process I have ever been a part of. Once we made it through check in, it was down a large flight of stairs to hit a gong and then exit through a door which led to an elevator. Let’s stop for a moment. The area where the stairs and elevator meet is a very stunning platform with an incredible view. Good place to get married. Talk about a wow factor!
We then went down the elevator and hopped in a golf cart and soon at to our private villa. These villas are phenomenal. As soon as you open the door, you can’t help but resist to run and see the view. It is simply magnificent. The villa has its own private infinity pool and outdoor lounge area. The design is very minimalist yet gorgeous.
The bathroom features high-quality components as well as a bathtub that will make your jaw drop. There’s not many places that would be better than this to relax. There’s an indoor shower and an outdoor shower. Both are very stylish and will get you nice and clean. Wink.
The property is located on the side of a hill. All of the villas look down over the rocks below. I could not get enough of this view! To get around the property you’ll need to rely on their buggy service. Sure, you can walk sometimes, however, you will soon be dripping with sweat so I would recommend you take a buggy. You’re welcome for the advice.
After checking in and getting settled, it was time for a tapas lunch at their restaurant. The chef is Spanish but there are also many Thai chefs working there. This leads to some fantastic food. The restaurant has the same gorgeous view as the rooms, if not better. We were able to enjoy a breakfast, lunch and dinner all in the same restaurant overlooking the ocean. I kept pinching myself to see if I was dreaming. Nope.
The best of all the three meals had to be the dinner. Normally, the hotel restaurants in Thailand change the taste of the Thai food to adapt to the foreign taste buds. However, at Paresa they kept the very authentic tastes, including the spice! All of my readers know that I love spicy food so I was in heaven.
The breakfasts were also quite remarkable with a large buffet as well as a made to order menu. They really did a great job at both the western and Asian dishes.
I was too busy swimming in my own private pool to use the main pool. However, this larger pool possessed a beautiful design accompanied with a magnificent view of the ocean. Just below the pool is their fitness and spa area. The fitness room wasn’t large but had plenty of equipment to get the job done.
During this day we had a chance to experience a Swedish massage. I must say that it was a very relaxing experience. A shocker right? Along with every other area of the property, the treatment rooms overlook the same magnificent view. Absolutely breathtaking. Accompanied with a wonderful spa treatment and you’re simply in paradise.
I really love to cook, as I’m sure you know. I’ve been eating Thai food forever but I’ve never taken a Thai cooking class until this trip to Phuket. Peresa offers a Thai cooking class where you can learn to make some of the most delicious Thai food, ever. Led by Chef Kwang, you’ll learn how to make some very tasty food and have a memorable experience. For our class, we learned how to make several dishes including Tom Kha Gai, Masaman curry and Mango Sticky Rice! At the end of cooking all the delicious food, there was nothing else to do but consume it and it was amazing. All thanks of course to the magnificent chef and teacher, khun Kwang.
As you know from other articles, this was my first trip to Phuket. I’ve heard many mixed reviews about this area of Thailand but must say that it turned out to be perfectly splendid. Paresa was one of the most memorable places I’ve ever visited. I really love how they incorporate all of these amazing views into all areas of the property. The staff is always on their toes and prepared to assist you in whatever you need. They will pick you up within five minutes of your call and drive you anywhere you would like to go on the property. All of this including amazing food and fun activities make this resort one of the best in Phuket. For all of these reasons and more, I highly recommend you to visit Paresa resort in Phuket, Thailand!
