This was my first time to visit Nice, France and I got to enjoy some beautiful scenes! I never imagined how breathtaking the water could be, especially from my room at La Perouse hotel! I got to stay at some of the finest hotels in the city, such as Le Negresco, eat fantastic food and take in all of the gorgeous views!
Sometimes you have the best meals in the most unexpected places. While staying at the Herodion hotel in Athens, Greece, which you can read about in another article, I ate at their Atrium Bistro twice. It’s a well lit dining room because it’s in what is basically a greenhouse. It’s beautiful at all times of the day.
The restaurant offers an à la carte menus as well as a set menu. I must say that I fell in love with the first set menu which consisted of a Greek salad, Greek Moussaka, Greek Kavourmas which is preserved beef and their sweet of the day. The second set menu is also great but the first is my life partner.
This was one of those meals where every single bite tasted incredible. I feel like the chef could easily bet at a multiple star Michelin restaurant. I even brought a Greek friend to confirm the quality and authenticity. He claimed it was some of the best Moussaka he has ever had! That proves you can trust me with all of your life decisions.
This is such a diamond in the rough. The food is of the highest quality yet it is reasonably priced and served with great service. I would go out of my way to recommend you to eat at the Atrium Bistro in Athens, Greece at the Herodion hotel!

Atrium Greek Bistro: A Hidden Greek Food Heaven in Athens
Atrium Greek Bistro: A Hidden Greek Food Heaven in Athens
The hotel for the last three nights on my recent trip to Athens, Greece was the Herodion hotel, near the Acropolis. It’s only a few hundred meters from the Acropolis metro station, and within walking distance from all of the major attractions in Athens, Greece. When entering the hotel, you’ll get a feeling of warmness and quaintness. I loved the lobby! Just past the lobby is their Atrium Bistro, which you can read about in another article.
After a smooth check in process, I headed up to the second floor to see my room! The room was moderately sized with a large sliding-glass window. The view looked out to the green area next to the hotel, as well as the Acropolis. The room was fairly standard and included a bathtub, instant coffee station and desk area. Clean and comfortable indeed!
What I would say sets the Herodion hotel apart from its competitors would have to be its rooftop and restaurant. Their bistro is located on the ground floor and it’s phenomenal. The food is fantastic with reasonable prices. The dining room is gorgeous and the service was excellent! If you’re staying at the hotel or just in Athens, you should definitely try the food, it’s worth a separate trip and you can read more in my in-depth review in a separate article.
The second amazing feature was the rooftop. On the rooftop, you can find multiple hot tubs and a superb view of the Acropolis. It looks great day or night and is completely unobstructed. I must mention that there is no gym or pool on this property.
The next morning at breakfast I was happy to see an assortment of Greek and international food items. Everything tasted quite nice and the staff were pleasant as well.
Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay at the Herodion hotel in Athens, Greece! The property has a great location which is a good starting point for exploring Athens. Some other notable points were the great service, tasty bistro food and large rooftop. On your next trip to Athens, don’t forget to pay a visit to the Herodion hotel for a stay or meal!

One of my last stays in Athens, Greece was at the Fresh hotel. The nearest metro station to the Fresh hotel is the Omonia station. The property is practically equidistant from Monastiraki station, which is also a very centrally located station. Right in the thick of city life!
The Fresh hotel has a lot more to offer than I initially expected. When walking into the room, a sense of peace will come over you. The rooms are very bright, with great lighting and wood accents. There are also a few splashes of color here and there.
The bathroom is on the smaller side, but very modern and clean. I liked the design of everything. Bright white bathrooms are usually my favorite!
A feature of the Fresh hotel that most will love, is the extensive rooftop. On the roof, there is a lounge, sunbathing area as well as the swimming pool! You can see a lot from the rooftop, even the Acropolis!
The hotel has a fitness center on the first floor. The gym was actually more impressive than I would’ve imagined. Multiple cardio machines as well as free weights and a weight machine make this a great place to get your sweat on. There is actually even a small sauna in the changing room.
By far my favorite part of the entire experience at the Fresh hotel would have to be the breakfast. I read a few reviews online that mentioned this, but little did I know how impressive it would be! There was tons of local food. Not just a few items, but all types of local Greek favorites that really impressed me. Everything tasted great and the service was fantastic. This was truly the cherry on top of the whole experience!
When it was all said and done, I had a smooth experience at the Fresh hotel in Athens. They have a lot of great offerings that were truly pleasant. One drawback was the fact that there was no way to make coffee or tea in the room. In all of the other fronts, it was a great stay. Happy travels!

There are great views of the Acropolis all over Athens. That being said, some of these are way better than others. A great view happens to be at the Galaxy Restaurant & Bar on the top of the Hilton hotel in Athens, Greece. I also stayed at the Hilton which you’ll have to read about in a separate article. Wink.
The restaurant and bar offers a gorgeous setting to enjoy the city view and their menu is unique, offering both Greek and Japanese cuisine. The meal started off with amuse bouche which looked great and tasted amazing!
I wanted to get a full feel for the menu, so I ordered items from both the Greek selections as well as the Japanese. I went with the combination sushi platter to start. Overall, it’s not quite Japan, but still tasty with a great presentation.
The next dish was a Japanese styled salad with a salmon fillet. The salmon was extraordinary. Lots of seaweed in the salad too made Pierre happy.
The next dish after these first two were scallops. The scallops had a very unique presentation and were perfectly cooked. You know what I’m talking about, slightly crispy on the top and bottom where they’re seared, and juicy and tender on the inside!
Now it was time for my two favorite dishes of the evening! These were the traditional Petoura pasta from Grevena, Greece with black pork pancetta, mushrooms and a poached egg. The pork was extraordinary!
The other main course was the Black Angus ribeye steak with rocket salad. This was a fantastically cooked steak, perfectly pink on the inside.
For dessert was a giant assortment of sweets! It was almost too much to handle.
Circling back to the view, I can’t get over it. This was one of my last dinner reviews in Athens, and it was a great send off. This city is gorgeous and having a meal at the Galaxy Restaurant & Bar at the top of the Hilton is perfect. I can highly recommend you to both stay at the Hilton Athens and enjoy Galaxy Restaurant & Bar. Enjoy!
