Rosewood Phnom Penh Review: Top Luxury in Cambodia’s Capital

When I last visited Phnom Penh, I was incredibly curious about the Rosewood property that towers over the city, but I never had the chance to experience it firsthand. Fast forward to New Year’s Day 2026, and I finally got to spend three glorious nights at what many consider one of the best hotels in Phnom Penh. This Rosewood Phnom Penh review will walk you through everything you need to know about this stunning property. Please enjoy this Rosewood Phnom Penh review.

Location and First Impressions

Rosewood Phnom Penh Review

The Rosewood Phnom Penh officially opened its doors on February 12, 2018, marking Rosewood’s debut in Southeast Asia. Occupying the top 14 floors of the 39-story Vattanac Capital Tower, this Phnom Penh luxury hotel is positioned smack dab in the center of the city, making it incredibly convenient for exploring Cambodia’s vibrant capital.

We arrived at the new airport, which is about an hour away from the hotel by taxi. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was immediately reminded of Rosewood’s signature style. It had been some time since I’d stayed at a Rosewood property, but that distinctive aesthetic and attention to detail came flooding back.

One quick tip for getting around: I’d recommend taking tuk-tuks or taxis from point A to point B because Phnom Penh isn’t really set up great for walking in many areas, though it is possible. The central location of this property makes it one of the most convenient Cambodian luxury hotels for exploring the city.

Service That Sets This Rosewood Apart

Rosewood Phnom Penh Review

From the moment we arrived to the time of checkout, we only encountered happy staff with large smiles. This is genuinely refreshing, I never met a single unhappy staff member during our entire stay. The interior design throughout the property felt cohesive and luxurious, with the team doing an exceptional job at maintaining everything and keeping it smelling lovely with signature scents.

Rosewood Phnom Penh Review lobby

Check-in was smooth and efficient, and before we knew it, we were being escorted to our room. This level of service is what distinguishes the top Phnom Penh luxury hotels from the rest.

Premier River Twin Room: A Room with a View

Our Premier River Twin Room was located on the 30th floor with absolutely gorgeous views of the rivers. The floor-to-ceiling windows maximized the spectacular vistas, and I loved having automatic controls for the curtains, such a convenient luxury touch.

Rosewood Phnom Penh Review views

The room was incredibly spacious, featuring a large sofa and a huge mini bar area well-equipped with a tea and coffee station. The tea pot was particularly classy, and there were lots of books throughout the room to read during downtime. The beds were super comfortable, and I slept great for all three nights, always a crucial factor in any hotel review.

The bathroom deserves special mention in this Rosewood Phnom Penh review. It featured a separate shower stall, bathtub, toilet stall, and dual sink vanity. Everything felt luxurious and well-appointed. Overall, it was an exceptionally comfortable room that lived up to the standards you’d expect from one of the best hotels in Phnom Penh.

Hotel Amenities: The Standout Features

The huge standout at this property was the spa, pool, and fitness areas. We took great advantage of these facilities each day, working out, using the sauna, and swimming in the pool. These amenities truly set this property apart from other Cambodian luxury hotels.

The pool is absolutely glorious. Located on the 33rd floor with great views, it’s massive with a gorgeous design. Attentive staff were always cleaning and making things sparkle. The gym was incredibly well-equipped with great views as well, featuring all the equipment we could possibly need: free weights, machines, cardio machines, and more.

The men’s changing room had a sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi, while the women’s changing room featured steam and jacuzzi facilities. These wellness amenities are what make the Rosewood Phnom Penh review so positive, they’ve thought of everything.

Breakfast: A Highlight of Our Stay

Hotel breakfast takes place on the 35th floor, the same level as the lobby, offering stunning views of the city. The breakfast service includes both an a la carte menu and a buffet, giving guests plenty of options.

After trying Western orders for the first two days, we decided to try Cambodian food on the third day and were absolutely blown away by how good it was. My advice: definitely try the Cambodian food over the Western options. This was one of the unexpected highlights that I felt compelled to include in this Rosewood Phnom Penh review.

The buffet itself was sufficient, not overly extravagant but offering a decent variety of quality items. The fruit was super sweet and ripe, and the staff were always there to help and were incredibly friendly. We genuinely looked forward to breakfast every single day.

Dining at Sora: An Unexpected Delight

During our stay, we experienced an evening at Sora bar for sunset. This epic open-air bar has lots of seating and attentive staff. It was very crowded, which is always a good sign for any venue.

They have a full bar and also serve Japanese food. For some reason, I didn’t have high expectations, but I was super pleasantly surprised by the food quality. We ordered ramen, karaage, tuna, sushi roll, and a pandan-flavored mocktail, all were delicious! As the sunset went down, the views became more and more beautiful and colorful. We absolutely loved it, and the prices were reasonable compared to some other dining outlets at the property.

Cuts Steakhouse: Fine Dining Experience

For another evening, we tried Cuts for dinner. The classy dining room offers lots of good views, and the staff were friendly and super welcoming. The food was also good, though not quite as impressive as Sora in my opinion.

Some items were super pricey and the value didn’t necessarily align with the cost. That being said, we did enjoy our meal in the end. The beef tartare was uniquely tasty, and the crab cakes and turbot were also highlights of the evening.
