Organising a casino-themed night in

Last updated on February 9th, 2025

Bring the glitz and glamour of a casino indoors with your very own DIY casino night. Themed nights are a great opportunity to not only get everyone together but also to dress up and embrace something completely different.

Of course, you’ll need to set the scene with a stylish casino ambiance. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Crafting an opulent casino atmosphere

The world’s best casinos are typically associated with opulence and sophistication.

With this in mind, you’ll need to consider all the sensory aspects when decorating your home. Choose a fitting playlist that matches your theme and consider the lighting. Lighting is important – you can use candles and fairy lights to make the atmosphere extra extravagant. Just make sure the games area is well-lit so guests can see clearly.

Implement a dress code

Ahead of the event, make sure you let your guests know about your dress code. It’s a great excuse to go with a black tie theme. You could encourage guests to wear suits and dresses so they feel fabulous throughout the evening.

Instead of a classic black tie dress code, you could go with something different such as a 1920s Great Gatsby theme. This way, you can put a different spin on the decorations too.

Once you’ve decided on a theme, be sure to make it clear on your invitations. Guests will appreciate plenty of time to pull an outfit together.

Set up casino games

There are many different casino games to choose from, so think about the options that your guests will enjoy the most. You could hire someone to run games of poker or you could set up more of a ‘homemade’ version. Some people rent poker equipment such as games tables, as well as roulette wheels, to bring the evening to life.

A pack of playing cards can be used for many different games such as Blackjack and Baccarat, however, you can also buy dedicated casino kits. Otherwise, you could download a bingo app and play a few rounds together.

The main goal is to create a laidback atmosphere while ensuring everyone feels involved – that’s the secret to a brilliant casino night.

Prepare gourmet snacks and fine drinks

Keep your guests happy with a good supply of food and drink during the evening. You could start off with canapés to give everyone a taste of what’s to come. Choose classic yet extravagant finger food such as miniature skewers, prawn cocktail cups or croquettes.

When it comes to the main meal, you have several options. You may want to prepare a sit-down meal or serve everything through a buffet set-up. The latter is a convenient option if you have a fair few guests attending.

For drinks, you could recreate mocktail classics or make your very own creations in line with your theme.
