Last updated on April 25th, 2025

It’s no secret that the United States is an extraordinarily vast and boundless country. While it may not be possible to cover it all in one trip, it’s certainly not too late to create a checklist of all the unique travelling experiences waiting for you. From the snowy peaks of Alaska to the sandy beaches of Hawaii, it’s mesmerising how much one country has to offer. Keep reading below to read more about what you can add to your bucket list.

Road tripping along Route 66

To kick off your unforgettable USA trip, why not do it in style and luxury and truly feel like a celebrity by flying in on your private jet charter? Not only is it luxurious, but it is of the utmost comfort as well, and you’ll undoubtedly need to be well-rested before you begin to travel and explore all around the States. We highly recommend driving along the iconic Route 66, one of America’s most iconic roads. Although the entire route no longer exists, it stretches from Chicago to Santa Monica, with much to see.

You can still drive along portions of the road with plenty of roadside attractions for you to experience along the way and incredible food for your tastebuds to experience too. Don’t forget south side pizza. These include Wigwam Motels in Arizona and California, where the rooms are shaped like teepees. Don’t forget the quirky experience of Cadillac Ranch in Texas, where ten Cadillacs are buried into the ground, nose-first.

Aside from seeing the iconic route, there’s so much to experience on the way. You can truly experience and immerse yourself in the country and witness a bygone era that’s left behind little snippets and pieces to enjoy. With the opportunity to pass through small towns and big cities, you’ll meet all sorts of wonderfully hospitable people, offering some of the most comforting food you’ll remember for the rest of your life.

Glamping in the great outdoors

Another must-experience journey is to go ‘glamping’ in the great outdoors. The nature of the USA is unmatched, but if you don’t want to sacrifice luxury or comfort (which is why that private jet is such a good idea), this is the alternative to camping for you.

Glamping, or glamorous camping, is a unique way to enjoy the great outdoors without roughing it in a traditional tent. Who said camping had to be an uncomfortable Olympic sport? The States is an excellent place to ‘glamp;’ they offer plenty of opportunities for you – from treehouses in the forest to the middle of the desert.

Some glamping companies offer a few really unique glamping experiences in the country. With locations in various national parks, including Yellowstone, Zion, and Grand Canyon, You can stay in safari-style tents with king-size beds, private bathrooms, and even wood-burning stoves. It is an all-in-one experience because you’ll feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere but with all the comforts of home.

And with so many locations, aside from glamping, you can explore the wonders and beauty of the national parks as well. Places like Yellowstone are unique, and because the States is such a vast place, they have preserved the natural beauty of the place.

Exploring the ghost towns of the wild west

The good ol’ Wild West days may be good and gone, but that’s not to say you can’t find pieces of them scattered across Western America.

The remains of ghost towns still live on, and these used to be once hustling and bustling places during the Gold Rush era especially. They were abandoned when resources ran out, but the towns themselves managed to live on amazingly.

Some of these towns have been preserved as historical sites and offer a fascinating glimpse into the past. One particular town that’s quite popular in California is the town of Bodie, which has been turned into a state park.

Visitors can wander the deserted streets and buildings of this once-thriving mining town, imagine what life was like in the Wild West, and come as close as possible to living out your cowboy fantasy. Other ghost towns, such as Virginia City, Nevada, and St. Elmo, Colorado, offer similar experiences.

Ready to travel?

Tourist attractions and destinations in the big cities are certainly reason enough to visit the United States. Still, as you can see from above, there are so many unique travel experiences to be had that you simply couldn’t find elsewhere.

Whether you go glamping in the great outdoors, road trip along Route 66, or explore the Wild West ghost towns, you’re sure to have a memorable trip, and you’ll have so much to come back and tell your friends about. Who knows, the next trip might have to be more extensive. So, step off the beaten path for your next holiday and discover a different side of America. Happy travelling!
