All of the brand-new and super-modern hotels are great, but what if you want classic luxury with serious personality? In Bangkok there are a few options that fit this category, and one of those brands is Anantara. Anantara is probably most famous for its resorts around Asia. I had to try the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort which is inside the city but feels a world away.

Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is located along the Chao Phraya River and has a free shuttle boat from BTS Saphan Taksin Station. When you step into the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort you will immediately feel the quality. The staff are well trained and treat guests like the kings or queens they are. My check in process took place in the Kasara Executive Lounge. I was served a welcome drink and then headed up to my room on the sixth floor.
Deluxe River View Room
The Deluxe River View Room was spacious and featured a gorgeous balcony looking down over the pool and the Chao Praya River. It was fantastic to wake up, open the curtains, and see the absolutely beautiful Bangkok sunrise. The room had a lot to offer including a capsule coffee machine, comfortable working desk, lounge chair, universal power outlets, and a bedside control-center.
In the bathroom there was a bathtub, separated shower stall, separated toilet stall, single sink and a vanity with large mirror. I was pleasantly surprised by the assortment of high-quality toiletries.
Pool
A key feature of this property is the massive swimming pool in the center. I was lucky enough to swim early in the morning and be completely alone in this tropical oasis. They even have a jacuzzi at one end, great for loosening up. I can see why this pool stayed busy throughout the day, it’s absolutely beautiful.
Kasara Executive Lounge
I had Kasara Executive Lounge access which was located on the lobby floor. I appreciated the style of the lounge, it was very spacious and comfortable with great service at all times of day. Kasara Executive Lounge offers all-day snacks and soft drinks, afternoon tea, and an evening hors d’oeuvres and alcoholic beverages period. The food during the afternoon tea was modest, yet tasty. The evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were much more extensive when it came to food and drink. This is clearly what they have decided to focus on. I did like the large amount of snacks such as cookies and candy available throughout the day!
Facilities
Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort is made up of three buildings. Walk across a quaint footbridge and you’ll reach the gym and spa. The gym is not massive in size, but has absolutely everything needed for a great workout. All of the equipment was brand-new, and in the locker rooms there was a steam room and dry sauna which were nice and toasty.
Food and Beverage
Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort has a long list of food and beverage outlets including Trader Vic’s, Brio Italian Restaurant, Market Restaurant, Benihana, Riverside Terrace, Numero Uno Cafe, Elephant Bar and more. The breakfast occurs in the Market Restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating along the Chao Praya River. This was one of the most extensive breakfast buffets that I’ve enjoyed in a while! They had cuisines from all corners of the globe, all tasting fantastic. Time to indulge.
Trader Vic’s
During my stay, I went for dinner at Trader Vic’s which is an island themed restaurant chain appearing in most major cities of the world. Items I liked were the crab rangoons, prawn curry, fried prawns, and the coffee creme brulee! Throughout the evening, I experienced great service and a cozy atmosphere. The staff were very personable, in a comfortable way.
Brio
Another meal I was able to have at the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort was a dinner at Brio, the property’s Italian restaurant. Brio sits along the pool and had a very classy atmosphere with top of the line service. My favorites for the evening were the Mixed Anti Pasti, the cod, and the Panna Cotta. From what I could gather, the service in all food and beverage outlets was supreme.
Conclusion
Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort was a great introduction for me to the Anantara brand. The resort screamed luxury with its quality service and solid list of amenities. The location is fantastic because you get to enjoy a very relaxed atmosphere, all while having the conveniences of Bangkok at your fingertips. If you want a truly relaxing holiday, complete with luxurious setting, look no further than the Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort!
