Amara is a small hotel brand that originates in Singapore. They have a handful of properties around Asia including in Singapore, Thailand, and Shanghai. Amara’s theme is contemporary Asian business hotels that focus on convenient locations and efficient service. My first introduction to the brand was at Amara Bangkok. The location of the Amara Bangkok is not far from BTS Sala Daeng Station, which makes it really convenient starting point to explore the city. Sticking to their theme, nice!

When I opened the door to my 21st floor room, I was pleasantly surprised with the contemporary design. I loved all of the straight lines and less intrusive colorway than some other hotels that try too hard. Overall, I could describe the design as very clean. The bedding was also very comfortable! Got a few great nights of sleep here. Amara Bangkok has complimentary minibar with a few off-brand colas and a single can of beer, I suppose it’s better than nothing. Fairly modern controls throughout, but no USB ports. A key highlight of this room was the impeccable view of Bangkok!
The bathroom was very gorgeous. White and bright. The bathtub is picturesque. The toiletries all had great fragrances.
As it is a business hotel, there was a great working desk with comfortable office chair. Pierre approved!
The Amara Club Lounge is located on the 20th floor, one floor below where I was staying made it very convenient. The Amara Club Lounge offers a breakfast, and an evening food and drink period. Overall, the food was acceptable, although some dishes could use some improvements. What set this lounge apart from the others is the fact that it had open air seating area, basically making it a semi-private sky bar without a bunch of noise.
On the rooftop of Amara Bangkok is the very gorgeous rooftop pool and bar. Once again spectacular views of the city!
The fitness center can be found a few floors down and has a very full offering. There are actually two rooms, one cardio room, and one with free weights and weight machines.
My first introduction to the Amara Hotel brand in Bangkok was fairly positive. I can see some room for improvements but I have a feeling this will come with time, as the brand comes of age. I could easily stay again at the Amara Bangkok!
