It was my first trip to Maldives and while there, I paid a visit to the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma. The resort is quite convenient to visit because it doesn’t require an additional flight from Male. Simply arrive from your international flight, and take a speedboat transfer. We were greeted warmly by the delightful staff at the resort’s arrival jetty, and then proceeded to the reception for a speedy check in where the property’s features were explained in detail while enjoying our welcome drink!

The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma has several types of villas. Some are located on land, while others are over-water. The Overwater Villas are located on the opposite end of the island from the reception, in a very quiet area. The resort’s buggy service made it convenient to move from one end to the other with ease.

The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Overwater Villas are comfortably spacious. They are comprised of a large bedroom area, with an elevated mattress and a living room area with large sofa. Just beyond the living room is a small balcony which looks over the villa’s private deck and ocean.

There is a hammock built into the deck which makes it possible to look directly down at the water below. Not a bad place to relax!

The bathrooms of the Overwater Villas have an outdoor shower, indoor vanity and outdoor bathtub. I appreciated the fact that the skylight let in lots of natural light.

Overall, the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Overwater Villas have a lovely design and color. The whites and blues put me into a relaxed mood. A feature I certainly appreciated was that all villas were stocked with Illy Coffee. Nothing like having quality coffee while on holiday!

From the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Overwater Villas, there were breathtaking views during both daytime and nighttime. Whether it was gazing out at a sky full of stars, or watching the sunrise, it was magical!

All of the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma’s food and beverage outlets are located in one area. Both a la carte and buffet options are available. The restaurants offered a large variety of food from all parts of the world. I found the dishes to be always changing and interesting throughout my week-long stay. The great tasting food was very consistent.

During my stay at Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives I was able to experience two themed buffet dinners, one was a local Maldivian feast with entertainment, and the other was a seafood barbecue. Both had tons of scrumptious options, and it was exciting to be introduced to Maldivian dishes I had never tried before!

Most of the food and beverage outlets look out over the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma’s large pool and beyond. It seemed that a majority of guests spent their entire holiday at this beach simply relaxing.

What truly impressed me about the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma was the amount of activities offered. So many great activities and so little time! My favorite of them all was swimming with the sea turtles, read all about that experience and the other activities in this separate article.

Another activity I enjoyed while at the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma was a spa treatment at their Kandooma Spa. Read about the lovely spa experience in a separate article as well.

Next to the Kandooma Spa is the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma’s fully-equipped fitness center. During most of my gym visits it was fairly quiet, I think most guests were focused on other activities, like napping. The gym had all of the equipment I needed and more!

Throughout the stay, I rarely witnessed any slip-ups when it came to service. The Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma is a great place for a family getaway, and a great place to experience lots of thrilling activities. The Overwater Villas were lovely and my recommendation for anyone planning a visit. When it was all said and done, I had a lovely stay at the Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma in Maldives and would recommend it for your next family holiday!
