Certainly, Phuket is one of the most famous destinations in Thailand. I hadn’t been in five years and was excited to return to see what had changed. The trip would start off on the most famous tourist beach at Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong. Let’s rewind a little, to start, I took a plane from Chiang Mai, which was only about one hour and 45 minutes, if I remember correctly. It was a very smooth flight minus all the turbulence, wink. Once I landed at the airport, I found a gentleman holding a sign with my name on it. Soon I was in a nice car and making the 45 minute drive to the hotel.

One of the hallmarks of the Indigo brand are their eye-catching interior designs. The lobby of the Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong was simply stunning! If I couldn’t see the rest of the city I would have thought I was somewhere in the Maldives. The property is located just a few hundred meters from the beach and also easy to travel to several nearby attractions including the Phuket Big Buddha.
The lobby had incredibly grand ceilings, beautiful lighting, comfortable seating, was open to the outside, and accompanied with very friendly staff. For check in, I received a lovely welcome drink and soon was sent to my room on the fifth floor. All a very smooth process and a great first impression of the property!
King Bed Junior Suite Garden View
For my four nights at the Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong, I stayed in a King Bed Junior Suite Garden View. Where do I start? Just like the lobby and the rest of the property, this massive room was simply gorgeous. There was a king-size bed, sofa, dining table, balcony, sizable minibar, huge closet, and more. Everywhere I looked there were little details that showed that a lot of effort went into the room’s design. For example, there were lots of varying materials used in almost everything which created a stunning masterpiece. Moreover, everything felt incredibly new and fresh as well!
The balcony was massive and had a large lounge chair as well as two barstools. Both great for enjoying coffee in the morning.
The minibar included a capsule coffee machine, teakettle, instant coffee, lots of water in glass bottles (not plastic), and an assortment of teas.
The bathroom of the King Bed Junior Suite Garden View could be opened to the bedroom or closed off by a sliding curtain and door. Inside the master bathroom there was a dual sink vanity, large bathtub, shower stall, as well toiletries in refillable bottles. Using less plastic is Pierre approved! Thank you Hotel Indigo for not over-using single use plastics when possible. Everything also smelled great and was of the highest quality. I made great use of the bathtub during my stay, it was glorious!
Most importantly, Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong had a ton of facilities to enjoy. First, we can take note of the gorgeous rooftop pool and bar. This is the place where I saw the most hotel guests spending time. Even though I was inside of the city I still felt quite relaxed up there. Moreover, I did have a chance to enjoy some food and drink at the rooftop pool bar, and I must say that the service was good.
Down one floor, on the fifth floor, was the fitness center. The fitness center was truly impressive! It had a lot more than the average gym. For example, it had a full-size boxing ring with Muay Thai boxing equipment. There was also a wide variety of cardio machines, free weights, and weight machines. All of this equipment was great for my workout but any workout that I could imagine as well. In addition, because of the close proximity to the beach, an outdoor morning run was also a great option for me.
Inside the beautifully designed locker rooms there were saunas, which I did enjoy during my stay. Even though the sauna was quite large, it heated up quickly in about 20 minutes! Toasty.
Food and Beverage
Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong had multiple food and beverage outlets. Firstly, in every outlet, I was treated great. The staff at the property were really friendly and well trained, I love you IHG! I also really appreciated that you could easily order from your phone via a QR code anywhere on the property. Whether you ordered in an outlet or in your room I found the fare to be reasonably priced and tasty.
Pots Pints & Tikis
Pots Pints & Tikis is located on the ground floor and was Indigo’s relaxed bar and lounge. Their menu had a wide variety of local and international dishes to choose from. During my stay, I enjoyed lots of the menu items, specifically the Thai food. I must say that after living in Thailand for five years, I do believe that the food was very authentic.
Pots Pints & Tikis had a great happy hour from 5 to 7 with an entire drink menu with a price of 100 baht, which was about 2.5 USD. The cocktails were fairly good and it would be hard to beat this price for the quality and the setting.
Butcher’s Garden is the hotel’s main all-day-dining restaurant on the ground floor. Firstly, this restaurant is simply stunning with its design. Once again, like the lobby, there was a strong island vibe going on. The restaurant features both indoor and outdoor seating. A truly beautiful atmosphere whether it was at breakfast or dinner (lunch wasn’t available during my stay.)
Let’s first discuss the breakfast! They have an incredibly wide variety of food to choose from, both local and international. They also have à la carte and buffet options. I loved everything I ate and I couldn’t wait to wake up every morning and eat it again. The service was super good too! So tasty and so much quality!
I was also sure to enjoy a dinner at Butcher’s Garden as well. For this meal the ambience adjusted perfectly to the time of day by becoming a bit more romantic and intimate. I went for a steak that was cooked just how I ordered. I paired it with a glass of wine from Chile which was actually quite tasty. All in all, I enjoyed my time at Butcher’s Garden.
The Rooftop Pool Bar
The rooftop pool was a great place to relax as previously mentioned. It was possible to order a wide variety of food and drink all while enjoying the relaxing atmosphere. Definitely a necessity during any holiday.
Certainly, I also made great use of the room service during my stay. The food was just as good as elsewhere on the property and came in a fairly timely fashion.
Overall, I was incredibly impressed with the Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong. My whole stay was nothing less than magical! I can’t get over the fact of how friendly everyone was, everywhere I went. From the maids, to the reception, to the restaurant staff, everyone was incredibly smiley and friendly. Just a delight to encounter. The hotel itself was super modern and well-designed, simply making a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy. Patong Beach is a very touristic part of Thailand and if you’re interested in exploring it, this is the perfect place to stay. Without a doubt, I can highly recommend the Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong!
