The next thing I knew, I was back along the Chaopraya river in Bangkok! No matter where you are along the river in Bangkok, it always feels like a different world. I absolutely love it. This time around, I was staying at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel. There is a cluster of hotels around the BTS Station. The Royal orchid Sheraton is slightly farther up the river. They offer a shuttle boat which runs every 30 minutes from the hotel to Saphan Taksin BTS Station. This is free of charge. However, I would skip the public transportation and recommend taking an Uber these days. You’re welcome.

The first thing I did when I arrived to the Royal Orchid Sheraton hotel was head straight to the executive lounge. If you have access, you can do your check in and check out process here which speeds things up and get you past all of the queues. While we’re talking about the lounge, let’s just go into a bit of detail. The lounge is very beautifully styled and offers one of the most amazing views of the river that I have witnessed. All of the rooms at this hotel also have views of the river however the higher up you are, obviously the more you can see and the lounge is at the top.
Here you can enjoy the standard lounge amenities which include breakfast, afternoon tea and of course happy hour and hors d’oeuvres in the evening. I know I said hors d’oeuvres but I think I lied. In reality they have the largest selection of lounge food ever. The first night there they even had tacos. Does it get any better folks? They can even make obscure cocktails. Whatever your heart desires. Seriously, a fantastic lounge.
Enough about the lounge. Just kidding, I still love you Sheraton lounge. Let’s chat about the rooms. After checking in, I headed to check out my room. Even though this hotel property is slightly aged I would have to say that the rooms still look wonderful. My view was quite remarkable and I really appreciated the styling in the bathroom with so much marble. Little things like having great coffee and a iron in the room make Pierre happy.
Let’s talk about the pool, fitness and other relaxation areas. Just like all of the rooms in the property, even the relaxation and fitness areas face the river. I must say, I enjoyed running in the gym while observing the pool and river. The fitness room is quite extensive and has six treadmills so you’ll never have any issues finding one. Pierre approves. The gym is solid overall and has all the equipment you need. The locker room, although has most amenities, could use an update.
I enjoyed my breakfast in the lounge during my stay and the food was tasty and abundant!
The hotel has not one, but two outdoor pools. The best one is right in the middle of the garden and has a swim up bar. This is the type of relaxation I’m talking about folks. Great job Sheraton.
As I normally do, I spent most of my time enjoying the lounge and the views in general. Check out some of these photos I captured from the property!
All in all, I always enjoy myself by the river. Although the property could use an update, I found that most of the areas where I spent my time were just great. With so many hotels to choose from along the river it can be difficult to make a decision. However, if you’re interested in high-quality service, great food, wonderful views of the river and just an all-around fantastic experience I would recommend the Royal Orchid Sheraton hotel in Bangkok!
