While staying at the beautiful Andara resort in Phuket, we had a chance to eat at their Silk restaurant and bar. The restaurant boasts a menu of both Western and Thai dishes, we went for the Thai. The menu has been slightly adapted for western taste buds, but if you prefer a more authentic taste, feel free to tell your server.
We started with a couple drinks and I went with the signature Silk cocktail. It was very refreshing and definitely put me in the mood for Thai food. The restaurant overlooks the pool and this creates a very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere.
For appetizers, we went with larb moo and chicken satay. I had to make sure that they would add the proper amount of chili because I love spicy food.
Soon after, we went for soup. One was the very traditional tom yum goong. Goong means shrimp if you were wondering. The other was tom kha gai which is a creamy yet flavorful soup which was absolutely amazing. I finished this one down to the last drop. It contains chicken, coconut milk, ginger and lemongrass.
For our main orders we went with a Thai green curry as well as a seafood and cashew dish. I would have to say I preferred the Thai green curry.
For dessert they offered fresh fruit and then we were on our way to dreamland. I always enjoy eating fruit in Thailand because it’s always so sweet! Overall, the meal was solid and a fairly good representation of Thai cuisine for a western set of taste buds. If you prefer super spicy food like I do, I would highly recommend you to inform your server. Andara is a great resort and if you’re there, I would definitely recommend you to have a meal at their Silk restaurant.
