While staying at the King George hotel in Athens, I had the pleasure to try one of the city’s best Greek restaurants. If you haven’t guessed, it’s of course Tudor Hall. The location is just on the Syntagma square, atop the King George hotel in the center of Athens.
When you walk into the dining room, your jaw will literally drop. This dining room is absolutely gorgeous. Not only is there a beautiful dining room with a fireplace, but if you look outside, you can enjoy a stunning view of the Acropolis. It doesn’t get any better than this!
For my dinner, there was an a la carte menu presented. The first dish that I especially enjoyed was the traditional Greek fish soup with olive oil and garlic flavored croutons. This bowl of soup was packed with flavorful seafood. Definitely a great way to start the evening!
The chef prepared a smaller order of their beef tartar after soup. This was presented in a very unique manner and tasted wonderful as well. I love the fact that Greek cuisine has lots of intense flavors! Pierre style.
I must take note of their eggplant salad with smoked eggplant. This is a dish prepared table-side. Customers are able to have input on the amount of seasoning and have the dish customized to personal preferences. This is best served up with their great bread. Just lovely. I also ordered the seafood ‘yiouvetsada’ with orzo pasta. This was another great dish, bursting with flavor. Feeling very Greek.
One of my favorite dishes of the evening, was the Corfu Bourdeto with scorpion fish, red pepper, onions and potatoes. This was a dish that really packed a punch! Absolutely lovely presentation and great flavor.
The meal was of course accompanied with wine pairing of local Greek wines. Some were nicer than others, but overall I appreciated them all.
For dessert, I had to get the traditional Kataifi. This was prepared in a very elegant manner which did not resemble the typical appearance of the dessert, this was the fine dining version. This dessert was phenomenal. Even though I was stuffed, I still managed to finish it. What a way to end the meal!
The staff wouldn’t let me quit. There was dessert wine and candied fruits even though I felt like I would burst!
This was one of my favorite meals while in Athens! As a whole, this restaurant was on top of things! Tudor Hall offers a magnificent view, wonderful service and of course great Greek food. I can’t help but recommend a meal at Tudor Hall, at the King George hotel. I’m certain that you’ll enjoy yourself like I did, enjoy!
