In Athens, Greece, there are two SPG Luxury Collection hotels pressed right up against each other! I’ve never seen this anywhere else in my life. Lucky for me, I got to stay at both of them while on my recent trip to this wonderful city. This article will be about the King George hotel just next to the Grande Bretagne hotel which you can read about in this article. Both hotels overlook the Syntagma square and have a great view of the Greek Parliament and the Acropolis.

The King George hotel has a gorgeous lobby. It’s not anything to sneeze at, it’s massive, practically the size of a shopping mall! It’s full of luxury furniture, chandeliers and artwork. A very impressive and gorgeous way to be greeted at this beautiful property.
My suite was located on the fourth floor. The King George hotel is quite modern and it shows in the features of the property. There was a great coffee machine, high-tech light switches and an updated interior. I really liked the wooden floors throughout the suite.
From the suite, I had a wonderful view of the Syntagma square below. I could also see the Acropolis easily to my right. You really can’t get a much better location than this!
The bathroom was a marble masterpiece. There were both a separate bathtub and shower stall. This bathroom just screamed luxury. Really fantastic.
I loved the little extras that the hotel staff left for me which included a bowl of Werther’s candies, a box of chocolates, a bowl of fruit, bottle of alcohol, a bouquet of flowers and a chocolate statue. All made me feel right at home and maybe added a few inches to my waistline. Wink.
The King George hotel boasts a fairly substantial gym. There you will find a handful of cardio equipment, tons of free weights and of course, a weight machine. Also, the gym has a wonderful sauna. I really enjoyed the feeling and the lighting in the gym as well as the herbal water in the sauna which really helped clear up my sinuses.
One of the best features about the King George property in the fact that it has one of the best restaurants in Athens. The restaurant I’m talking about is called Tudor Hall. This restaurant is all over the internet with fantastic reviews. During my Athens stay, I had the chance to have a great dinner there which you can read about in a separate article. For my time in the King George hotel, I also ate breakfast at Tudor Hall. The restaurant offers a large breakfast buffet, along with à la carte options for your choosing. The breakfast not only looked like a piece of art, it tasted beautifully as well. Picture-perfect!
The service during my stay at King George hotel was flawless. The staff were punctual and there when I needed them the most, I’d like to thank them for this. As I said earlier, I appreciated all the extras including the welcome gifts and great service. The property itself is just amazing. The two Luxury Collection hotels in Athens are gorgeous and I can highly recommend you to stay at both of them especially, the King George hotel!
