While living in Bangkok, I had walked by this building so many times but I never registered what it was. Now, a year later, I’m visiting this mysterious building – turns out it’s the Westin hotel. How exciting!

For those of you that know Bangkok, you’ll know that this hotel is right in the middle of the action. It is located about 50 meters from the Asoke BTS sky train station and the MRT subway station. This point is basically where the whole city comes together. You really can’t get anymore central than this!
We can say that the hotel is a bit on the aged side, but I really had a very nice experience. Right after my afternoon check in, I had afternoon tea in the lobby. Based on the food and tea, this was one of the best I’ve had in Bangkok! It was a mango-inspired afternoon tea and all items were delicious.
After tea, I took some time to explore this Westin property. I started in my room. The first thing I noticed when I entered was a tray of sweets and fruit on the table. Very nice. Now I’m going to be fat! Also, I must admit that I truly enjoyed the bedding. It was super soft like sleeping on a bed of clouds! I also had a truly fantastic view of the city from my room.
After spending some time in the room, it was then time to check out the lounge. It also happened to be afternoon tea time at the lounge. They offer a very wide selection of tasty snacks. Later in the evening, it changes gears slightly for the happy hour during which they serve cocktails and even more food. I must say that this lounge had a very strong offering in the food department!
If you have lounge access you can eat your breakfast there or in the main restaurant on the seventh floor. I vouched for the seventh floor because I wanted to see the full selection that was offered. They have a decent selection of food that tasted great. The presentation could’ve been improved slightly but overall, my stomach was very happy!
On one of the days I returned for a lunch. I ordered a burger which was exceptional – just look at these photos!
The gym and the pool area are definitely another aspect to take note of. They really have everything you could possibly want in order to stay fit. So much equipment, I didn’t know what to do with it all!
On the last evening there, I had drinks and hors d’oeuvres on the seventh floor. You actually have the option to sit outside which is a perfect place to relax and enjoy the city. Bangkok really is magical in the night time!
As stated earlier, my experience was very wonderful at the Westin hotel. The property could use an update when it comes to styling but that aside, everything else was superb. I had a chance to enjoy all of their dining outlets including an authentic Japanese restaurant called Kisso which you will be able to read about it in a separate article. Insanely amazing cough cough. For the offering, the Westin offers a lot of value. If you’re looking for a centrally-located hotel to explore Bangkok from, I would recommend you visit the Westin hotel in the center of the city!
