I haven’t been to Athens in five years, but I was really excited to return. My first stop was at the Wyndham Grand hotel in the city center. The hotel is located on the Karaiskaki square with a metro station just outside.

After a fairly smooth check-in process, I headed up to the 6th floor. The first thing I noticed while entering my room was the very comfortable looking bed. This was probably because I had been traveling all day. Wink. There was a large bathroom, a great desk and a fantastic coffee machine with Illy coffee! This was definitely much appreciated, well done Wyndham!
An amazing part of this property has to be the rooftop. There you can find a beautiful pool, restaurant and bar. It was a bit cold during my visit but this would be the perfect place for the summer. From the roof you can even see the Acropolis!
If you’re like me and enjoy a good workout, you’re in luck at the Wyndham Grand in Athens. They have a mid-sized gym on the eighth floor. The gym offers four pieces of cardio equipment, one weight machine and of course adjustable free weights. It’s not huge, but it has enough equipment to hit all of your muscles and did the trick for me. On the same floor as the gym, there is a spa. There you can enjoy spa treatments but there is also a sauna. It’s included in the room rate but you have to book your time slot in advance.
In the morning, you can enjoy breakfast on the ground floor, in the center of the hotel. There is a large skylight above the dining room which creates a very comfortable environment and perfect conditions for photos. I was quite impressed by the extent of the breakfast. I’m a huge fan of Mediterranean food and was not disappointed with the turnout of local food! I loaded up my plate with olives, feta and even tried to local alcohol from Crete. I was really impressed and excited to stay for a week!
The great thing about Athens is that everything is really close. The property is about a 20 minute walk to the touristic center of the city, but you can also easily hop on the metro and get there in just minutes. My whole stay was fairly smooth! This hotel really offers a lot of value for the price. If I return to Athens, I would definitely come back! All in all, I can definitely recommend the Wyndham Grand hotel in Athens, Greece!
