One of my first proper dinner reviews while in Athens was at the Aleria restaurant. The restaurant is not too far from the Metaxourghio metro station. Once inside, you’ll enter a world of wonder! There is a bar and dining area on the ground floor and a more formal dining room on the first floor.

When I got to the top of the stairs, all I saw were white table cloths and beautiful interior design. I found my table and got to work browsing the menu. To get a full feel for the restaurant, I decided to go with the first tasting menu, which came chef recommended.
The meal started off with an amuse bouche which had three different items. They were all fantastic and exploding with flavor. I especially loved the potato. It’s always an absolute delight when a meal starts off with such a strong note!
There were a few more dishes but one I loved very much was the Couscous “Bourdeto” with scorpion fish, muscles and squid. It looked like corn but it was actually large couscous and the seasoning used was impeccable. The whole dish was simply exploding with flavor and I was sure to finish every last drop! Magnificent.
I also went for the wine pairing to accompany the tasting menu. This included five Greek wines that varied according to the different flavors of the food. For the couscous, it was a 2016 Limniona from Tyrnavos, Greece.
The next course that was quite memorable, was the roasted lamb. The lamb came with tomato, a butter beans cream, celery and caper berries. The lamb had some of the most perfect texture I could ever dream of. I barely touched it with my fork and it fell apart because it was so tender! Well done.
For the final dessert there was a white chocolate and yogurt cream with strawberries and red fruits. This was bursting with flavor! Really a fantastic dessert and one of my favorites of all of my three weeks in Athens.
Of course I did finish the meal off with a nice coffee to balance the food. The service throughout the evening was extraordinary. There were tons of staff moving around the dining room, making sure I was taken care of. As I said before, the ambiance and interior of the room really were splendid and the food was incredible! Overall, it was a very fantastic meal and I can definitely recommend you to visit the Aleria restaurant in Athens, Greece!
