From the outside looking in, Bangkok may all look the same. However, once you spend a bit of time exploring this ginormous city, you’ll soon realize that each area offers a unique experience. Recently, I had the opportunity to stay the Amari Watergate Hotel. The property is located in the center of Bangkok’s most popular shopping areas. Across the street you’ll find Platinum Fashion Mall, just a bit farther and you’ll find Central World, Siam Paragon, MBK, Gaysorn and more! Whether you’re looking for bargain shopping, or more luxurious options, all are within a short walking distance from the property.

We arrived in the morning and took the Airport Link skytrain to arrive at Ratchaprarop station, just 700 meters from Amari Watergate. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were escorted up to the 32nd floor club lounge for our VIP check in. We were greeted with fresh orange juice and cold towels.
The Amari Watergate Hotel has undergone a fairly recent renovation just two years ago. The evidence of updates can be seen throughout the property, especially in the guest rooms. I was truly impressed with the quality of the bedding, pillows built for a king! The view from my room was also a welcomed sight, which helped bring back loads of memories from living in this magical city years ago.
The bathroom was spacious and had a window from the bathtub to the rest of the room. I am constantly on the go, so laundry can be a bit challenging. When I saw that the Amari Watergate Hotel included laundry detergent, I was thrilled. Something so simple, yet so appreciated!
The Amari Watergate Hotel staff welcomed us with a stunning fruit display. They had taken the time to carve a welcome sign into the watermelon. Well done Amari Watergate staff!
One of my favorite areas of this Amari property, is on the eighth floor. Here you’ll find their Breeze Spa (which you can read about about in a separate article) as well as an expansive rooftop pool, gym, steam room, sauna and poolside bar. After those long days of shopping and exploring Bangkok, it’s truly a fantastic place to unwind. The greenery on the rooftop made it feel like I was in the countryside, instead of in the middle of Bangkok.
The changing rooms offered a fantastic area for relaxation as well. The steam room was piping hot, exactly how I like it. All the facilities were modern and very clean.
Being on the same floor as the executive lounge was very convenient. The lounge offers breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktail hour all with an impressive city view. The executive club lounge breakfast was actually more extensive than I expected!
A handful of the Thai dishes during the club lounge’s cocktail hour were just perfect!
When the sun sets over this beautiful skyline, the view becomes even more impressive. Accompany the view with a cocktail in the lounge, and you’ve got a recipe for success. The Amari Watergate staff did a decent job of tending to the guests, but there was some room for improvement.
Amari Watergate offers a very large breakfast for all guests on the 4th floor in addition to the club lounge breakfast. Overall, the food was enjoyable in both venues, but obviously more extensive on the 4th floor. I was pleased to discover a Laksa station!
All in all, the stay at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok went well. One of the top selling points of this property is its prime location next to major shopping malls. Other features I enjoyed were the view from the club lounge and great facilities on the 8th floor. The Amari Watergate Hotel is a great property to begin your shopping excursion in Bangkok!
