We all know that the big brand name hotels are great, but sometimes it’s nice to step off the highly traveled path, and go for something more unique and boutique. This is why on my latest trip to Taipei, Taiwan, I stayed at Hotel Eclat. Hotel Eclat is located right in the center of the city, in Da’An, a short walk to the famous Taipei 101.

When I arrived at the airport in Taipei, coming from Tokyo, I was promptly picked up by the Hotel Eclat Airport Transfer Service, which happened to be using a shiny new Tesla. From the moment of arrival at the property, I noticed all of the artwork, whether it’s outside or in the lobby, every piece made a strong statement.
After a smooth check in process, and a nice meeting with the staff, it was time to get some rest after my flight. The first thing I noticed was how spacious the room was. The room was well equipped and had all of the same amenities as big-named five-star luxury hotels would have, including capsule coffee machine, electric curtains, a quality sound system, and comfortable bedding.
The bathroom was well equipped with a shower stall, electronic toilet, TV, and quality toiletries.
There were a few additions including complimentary mini-bar, great welcome amenity, and the ability to rent a fishbowl, a feature I have never seen in all of my experience as a travel writer!
Hotel Eclat has a restaurant and bar on the ground floor, and where breakfast is served. The staff was very friendly and conscientious throughout the stay. For breakfast, I would highly recommend that you focus on the local items, especially the Din Tai Fung Xiao Long Bao! Very tasty indeed.
Throughout the day Hotel Eclat offers refreshments in the lobby. It’s always nice to have something to snack on!
Also, I celebrated my birthday during my stay and wanted to say thank you to the team for the birthday gift!
Overall, Hotel Eclat in Taipei was a solid stay, which was primarily because of their rooms, location, and quality staff. The property could use some slight improvements here and there and does not have a pool, gym, or relaxation facilities. At the end of the day, if you’re looking for a unique boutique hotel experience, you try Hotel Eclat in Taipei, Taiwan.
