One of my favorite hospitality brands on earth is Shangri-La! On my recent trip to Taipei, Taiwan, I had the opportunity to stay at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. As the name would suggest, the property is located in southeastern corner of the city, only a few minute walk from Liuzhangli station.

Upon arrival, I received a welcome ginger tea and then was ushered to the Horizon Club Lounge on the 36th floor to complete the check-in process!
The room featured breathtaking views of Taipei 101, the rest of the city, and some mountains not too far away. I think it’s safe to say that all views from this property are absolutely incredible. I was able to capture some gorgeous photos both day and night.
My room on the 33rd floor was incredibly spacious. Apparently, the property had seen a recent remodel. I enjoyed the modern features including updated light controls along the bedside, a Bose Bluetooth Speaker, capsule coffee machine, and electronic toilet. There was a large walk in closet and the bathroom had a bathtub, shower and great toiletries. This being said, I was slightly surprised to see manual pull window shades. There was a large working desk that had a surprising amount of office supplies. Actually, during my visit, I published my first book! It’s called How To Live Abroad and Thrive with Passive Income and can be purchased here. It’s safe to say that I had a very exciting experience at the property!
The welcome fruit and amenity was cute and tasty! Thank you Shangri-La!
There was also a nice treat left during the turn-down service in the evening.
The pool at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel was absolutely phenomenal. Located on the very top of the building this pool offered even more phenomenal views of all corners of the city. For those of you like to take pictures this is the place to go!
Fitness and spa facilities can be found on the sixth floor of the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel. I loved the men’s spa which offered a hot bath, cold bath, steam room, and dry sauna. Nearby can also be found gym, which had tons of equipment. The staff in the fitness center were very warm and welcoming with each visit. A true pleasure and a favorite place of mine.
On the same floor as the gym you can find Shang Palace Restaurant. Shang Palace is the signature restaurant of the Shangri-La brand and offers elegant Cantonese dining with a modern décor. I was excited to have a dinner there and got to experience a tasting menu with wine pairing. My favorites for the evening were the Pan-fried radish rice cake, Braised E-Fu noodles with crab roe and mushrooms in truffle sauce, and finally the Almond milk green tea flavored with egg white served with egg tart topped with bird’s nest. The staff’s choice of wine pairing were quite well done and throughout the entire evening, the service was great!
The property houses the incredible Marco Polo Lounge with once again, amazing views of the city.
One of my favorite parts of the property was the Horizon Club Lounge on the 36th floor. The Horizon Club offers phenomenal breakfast, afternoon tea and evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvre. The design was very gorgeous and views were amazing! I spent a lot of time their enjoying the amazing food, which was consistently good. Everything also was presented in a beautiful way. Thanks to the staff that treated my so well!
My stay at the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel was nearly perfect! This property has lots of dining outlets to choose from, great location, wonderful food, and great service. Upon my departure, I hopped on the airport bus that picks up directly outside the hotel and was off to my next adventure! All in all, I can easily recommend a visit to the Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan!
