In the lower floor of Hotel Muse, which I wrote about in another article, there is a magical Italian restaurant. This restaurant goes by the name of Medici. From the hotel’s lobby, you simply walk down a winding staircase and you will find yourself in another world of food and excitement!
Keeping the same theme as the rest of the hotel, you’ll observe a dark yet elegant dining room. What really adds to the vibe, is that every night they offer an opera performance. The singers walk around and perform right in front of your eyes, it feels quite personal. After recently visiting Italy, I was introduced to the drink known as a Negroni. Therefore, at Medici I started with one. Hats off to the bartender who did a very good job on the drinks!
From here, it was time to start with food. We ordered scallops topped with truffle and foie gras as well as a salad with sausage. The scallops were cooked perfectly and the salad was super tasty! Great start.
It just so happened that the restaurant was running a special where they prepare pasta inside of a giant wheel of cheese. We had to try it! First they light a fire inside of the cheese to melt it, then they proceed to cut pieces of the cheese wheel and stir it into the pasta. What you receive, is a plate of cheesy goodness as well as a nice show.
For my choice, I went with a Filetto alla Rossini which was a beef tenderloin topped with foie gras and black truffle. This piece of meat absolutely melted in my mouth. Cooked to perfection and it paired with the truffle and foie gras perfectly.
We arrived a bit early and it was at about this time when the opera started. We were able to sit back with our beverages and enjoy the show. Along with the show, also came dessert. We went with one called four chocolates. These were great and this had the best chocolate lava cake I have ever ate!
As you know from the hotel article, after dinner we went up to the rooftop bar called The Speakeasy for a truly amazing end to this already perfect night!
I must say that I was very pleased with the evening. Not only does Medici have fantastic food, they have nice evening entertainment with their opera performance. Regardless, if you’re living in Bangkok or just visiting, Medici restaurant located inside of the Muse hotel is a wonderful place to enjoy your evening. I would highly recommend you visit as soon as possible! The meal was flawless and I’m certain that your experience will be nothing less than the best!
