Le Chantecler Restaurant Review (Nice, France)

Last updated on October 31st, 2024

During the last evening at Le Negresco hotel in Nice, I had a chance to try their 2 Michelin star restaurant called Le Chantecler. I was giddy like a schoolgirl even before I arrived in France, just for this meal. When you enter the dining room, you enter a world of luxury. Very interesting color scheme with pink and green chairs. There were tons of staff around to offer a fantastic service throughout the meal. I decided to go for the signature tasting menu to get a full feel for what the restaurant has to offer.

To get the meal started on a high note, there was a very tasty olive bread with salted butter that was created by a master butter maker. Of course they offered a glass of champagne. After, there was an amuse bouche which consisted of a small piece of fish with foam. The taste was exquisite and got me very excited to continue the meal.

The first incredibly memorable dish was the blue lobster. This was seasoned with chili which gave it an Asian flavor. It was simply to die for! Well done chef.

The next dish that I’d like to discuss was the steamed turbot fish. This was served with seaweed butter, artichoke and seasonal vegetables. It had lovely look and was quite tasty as well. I especially like the artichoke and the crispy seaweed. Throughout the meal, I was sure to enjoy a selection of wines that all paired well with the food.

The meal was winding down but I was sure to sample some of their cheeses. I made a few great choices and really fell in love! In the past, I’ve written off certain cheeses but this evening reinvigorated my love for cheese!

To finish the meal was a salted butter caramel delight with peanuts, chocolate and a milk chocolate mousse. This dessert pushed me over the edge into flavor bliss. It was incredible. Very rich and ended the meal on a high note.

When it was all said and done, I dined for a total of four hours. It was quite the marathon of eating, but definitely a delight like the name of the dessert. You’re not only investing in great food, but also in a great atmosphere and service. I can see why this restaurant was rated with 2 Michelin stars, and this is why I can also recommend that you try Le Chantecler restaurant at Le Negresco hotel in Nice, France!
