Many people have asked me what originally drew me to Tunisia. To be honest, I was looking on Google Maps and when I spotted the name “Tunisia” and for some reason I was pulled in! I started researching more, and as time went on, I became more and more fascinated with the country. Within a couple weeks of all of this, I organized a trip. During my stay, the first hotel that I visited was the Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis.

The Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis is located on a man-made lake in the center of the city. Being in the center makes it a very convenient location to travel around the city from. No matter which area you intend to visit, it’s all very easy from the hotel. After enjoying the hustle and bustle of the city, the hotel offers a comfortable oasis in which it’s easy to relax.
Arrival
On arrival I noticed that the Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis was quite grand. In standard luxurious fashion there was a massive lobby with very high ceilings. The staff were friendly and quickly checked me in but not before serving a welcome drink. Something that struck me in Tunisia was how prevalent strawberry juice was. I love it but hadn’t had it much until my visit to Tunis.
Suite 1 Bedroom Lake View
After the smooth check in process, I was then ushered up to my Suite 1 Bedroom Lake View on the third floor. My suite was very spacious, and included lots of notable features. Some features included a comfortable living room with sofa and coffee table, coffee and tea station, minibar, half bathroom at the entrance, master bathroom, working desk, balcony, and more.
The welcome amenity included a variety of dates which were tasty, thank you!
The views from the balcony each day were also very impressive. I’d highly recommend getting a room with a lake view indeed.
The bedding at the Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis was extremely comfortable and I appreciated that they had soft pillows, as I don’t like the very tall and hard ones. Throughout my stay, the housekeeping staff cleaned my suite once daily and were very friendly. There was no turndown service in the evenings.
The master bathroom included a dual sink vanity, full-size bathtub and shower, and separate toilet stall. A nice feature was that there were both feminine and masculine toiletries. A nice touch!
Fitness and Spa
On the ground floor of the Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis was where I found the fitness and spa facilities. These areas were a major selling point of the property. The pool which was quite grand and had lots of comfortable relaxation areas. Something about it was incredibly relaxing and the time passed very quickly while relaxing there.
Free for hotel guests were the steam rooms and saunas located inside the spa. I use these several times throughout my stay and enjoy them immensely. The staff did a good job at keeping everything sparkly clean as well.
The gym was massive in size and included all types of equipment needed including lots of cardio equipment, weight machines, free weights, and more. The free weights were slightly limited but still provided enough for a lovely workout.
Food and Beverage
Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis features two restaurants, an all day dining buffet restaurant as well as an a la carte restaurant. The breakfast buffet was overall tasty and was accompanied with friendly service. There was a decent variety of local and Western breakfast items to choose from. The a la carte restaurant was also very good at times with great service, but overall I found it a bit inconsistent with its offering.
As it was the holidays, I also got to enjoy the holiday brunch during my stay, which I can highly recommend! There was a wide variety of dishes and I must say I enjoyed all of them a lot. Presentation was also worth noting as they did a great job making everything look beautiful. My personal favorite was the oysters which were super tasty.
Room Service
I must say that the room service menu was also a delight in itself. I had a few meals in my room, including breakfast which was just splendid. The staff brought items quickly and with a smile. To be honest, I enjoyed the breakfast in room a bit more than the breakfast buffet. I also felt that the prices were quite reasonable so it was a very good value to indulge.
Conclusion
Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis offered a great introduction to Tunisian hospitality. What really came through during my visit was the warmth of the local staff. They were very friendly and accommodating throughout my stay. Not everything was exactly perfect but if anything did go awry the staff did a great job at making things right. Overall, I can definitely recommend a stay at Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis!
