On my recent food exploration of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam I checked out the Namo Italian restaurant located in District 1. The area is home to tons of fancy hotels, shopping and great food. After going up a few flights of stairs, we found our table. Our table was situated next to the window which offered a nice ambiance for the evening. The music was a upbeat providing more of a lounge feel. For the evening, our server Max was on top of his game, always right there when we needed anything. Thanks Max!
We started the evening off with their bread made from pizza dough and of course, wine. One was the Le Volte Dell’Ornellaia 2014 and the other was the Tancredi 2008. The Tancredi was a bit more intense and full-bodied, exactly what I prefer and would recommend to you!
The main event for the evening was the Black Angus Rib-Eye accompanied with green pepper sauce. The steak had a lot of nice fat running through it and I really loved the accompanied salt. To pair with this was more of my lovely wine choice. Fantastic. I did order salad and truffle fries to make it look like I’m healthy.
Max was worried that we wouldn’t have enough room for what was coming next but I assured him that I’m basically a competitive eater to put his mind at ease. Next up was a pizza, half with parma ham and half with mushrooms and truffles. After covering it all in chili I thought I died and went to heaven!
I topped up my glass of wine a few more times before it was time for dessert which was a tiramisu and glass of lemoncello. The lemoncello was great and the tiramisu was flawless. I’ve had tons of tiramisu in my day, but this one was perfect. Well done Namo, well done.
The evening went off without a hitch. From the moment we arrived, to the finish, the staff were great. There were no hiccups in service and every single item we ate was fairly good. Overall, I was quite impressed. The location of the restaurant also makes a very convenient place to visit. Without hesitation, I can easily recommend to you Namo in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam!
