One of the first hotels I stayed at during my recent trip to Bangkok was the Peninsula hotel. Their Bangkok property is located along the Chaopraya river. It has very easy access by public transit. All you have to do is take the sky train and then transfer with their private boat and voila! Arriving at the hotel you definitely feel the luxurious element. The lobby is quite grandiose and offers very high ceilings. This is also the location of the afternoon tea, which we can talk about a little later.

After a quick check in process, I headed up to my room. The view was of the river which is gorgeous. The styling is traditional luxury. In the bathroom they offered lots of marble and everything felt very solid. I like this style.
After seeing the room for a bit, I decided to tour the grounds. I would have to say one of the most impressive features of this property would be their pool. It’s quite long and offers a magnificent area to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather that Bangkok has to offer.
Next was their spa and fitness area. Here I would expect nothing less than greatness. The gym was just that, tons of fantastic equipment and locker rooms that also had some notable facilities. I spent an evening using the steam room, sauna and the different temperature pools that they have inside. Really a great touch. Wink.
During my stay, I also had afternoon tea in the lobby. The presentation was very elegant and all of the items look very beautiful. They definitely nailed it when it came to the sweets. However, some of the more savory items didn’t floor me. All in all, the afternoon tea was a nice experience.
While touring the hotel with the staff, I was shown their helicopter pad on the roof. They offer a helicopter transfer from the airport which only takes about 30 minutes if you don’t want to wait in traffic. The view from the rooftop was absolutely spectacular!
After touring the helipad, I also a chance to enjoy their new riverside buffet. This was one of the most extensive buffets that I’ve seen! They have it all, but really specialize in seafood. A massive selection, seriously!
The next morning when it came to breakfast, it was in the same location. It seems as though the selection was almost as huge as the dinner. I arrived a little bit late but I still had a chance to enjoy a nice breakfast and stayed in the air conditioning because it was quite hot that day.
The stay at the Peninsula hotel in Bangkok was rather speedy but smooth and comfortable. The design of the hotel, although luxurious could use a bit of an update. All of the service really left a good impression on me and I enjoyed the brand. I really can’t wait to visit the Hong Kong property because I’ve heard such amazing things. As for Bangkok, there are so many luxury hotels to choose from but I can definitely say that the Peninsula hotel has a solid offering. If you look through the photos and this style meets your preference, I would suggest you to pay visit. Happy travels!
