In Osaka, Japan, sitting on the 20th floor of the InterContinental Osaka Hotel, is a magical restaurant where dreams come true. It’s known as Pierre, a wonderful name don’t you think? From the name it’s easy to assume that Pierre serves French cuisine. The cuisine may be French but the ingredients are mostly Japanese. I’m not a fan of the Michelin Guide but the Pierre Restaurant does have a Michelin Star, if you were wondering (they were right on this one.) For the evening, I was able to enjoy seven courses of an impressive culinary adventure filled with surprises! Along with these seven courses were five glasses of wine.
The Osaka city views from the Pierre Restaurant’s dining room are quite impressive. The dining room is sleek and stylish with it’s tall ceilings and comfortable seating. I was delighted to receive the best table in the house, a corner table with unobstructed views. Highly recommended that you do the same!
To get started were several amuse bouches with very unique and exquisite flavors. Each amuse bouche was delightful and honestly, we could have just stopped there because they were so good! Attention chefs! A lot can be learned from this. It’s important to start your meal off with a bang, not something boring or mild. First impressions set the tone for the meal and the Pierre team did this perfectly. I was giddy as ever to try more!
Throughout the evening we were taken care of by the lovely Yoko who was a very delightful and bubbly host. There were lots of items to enjoy. Too many to discuss all of them, just know that they were perfection. Every bite set the bar higher and higher, and this doesn’t happen everyday folks. Some that I especially fell in love with were the foie gras, creamy gnocchi with abalone, juicy pork from the Basque region, the ultra-tender olive beef from Mie Prefecture, and of course, the desserts!
We actually tried three different desserts. All tasted especially great with a variety of textures and flavors. The presentation of the white peach, Louis Roederer champagne, and tapioca was quite appealing as well. It started with a cotton candy hat, and when champagne was poured on top, the cotton candy was melted away to reveal the rest of the beautiful dessert which looked like a fairy tale scene. What a delicious surprise!
I think my review shows that the Pierre Restaurant in Osaka at the InterContinental Hotel is absolutely incredible! The food was top of the line, even the bread and butter were exceptionally tasty. They truly pay attention to the details at Pierre. The only parts that I felt could’ve been improved were the wine pairing and the bright lights above our table. When it’s all said and done, nobody that has good taste will be disappointed at the Pierre Restaurant in Osaka, Japan! It’s a must try! Go go go!
