Restaurant Le Faubourg Berlin Review: Mindblowingly Good

Last updated on February 7th, 2025

I was very excited to finally make a trip to Berlin, Germany where I stayed at the Sofitel which you can read about a separate article here. On the ground floor of the hotel is Restaurant Le Faubourg. Restaurant Le Faubourg serves French cuisine with local ingredients. I had a strong hint that the food would be good when I arrived to see a full dining room at 6:30pm!

The dining room was elegant and had a romantic ambiance. During my visit the local newspaper was doing a special 5-course menu which I was thrilled to experience.

To get things started was a seaweed amuse bouche accompanied with a cold soup that made my heart race! That was all the confirmation I needed that more good things were yet to come!

Up next was one of my favorite items of the entire evening which was a smoked salmon. This dish was very well balanced. The perfect amount of salt on the salmon paired with the sourness of the vinaigrette and salad made me want to eat more and more. Super addictive! I joked with the waiter that I wanted a straw to get the last bit of vinaigrette.

Then arrived a milder dish which was an egg yolk confit. Even though it was more mild than the first dish, its delicate nature was admirable. A simple and stylish presentation as well!

For the main course I was served quail, jus of purple curry, celery, and Jerusalem artichoke. This was yet another perfectly executed dish! The feature that stuck out was the crisp outside of the quail and the juicy inside. Seriously great job!

Up next was a lovely goat cheese with macadamia nut, fig mustard, verjus, and apple. I’m normally not a huge goat cheese fan, but this was tasty! This was another indication that the chef incredibly talented.

To finish off the evening was a perfect dessert simply known as Caribbean Flavors which consisted of a rich cream paired with a sour fruit sauce. Expertly balanced, I could have ate this forever!

I’d like to note that throughout the evening the service was overall quite good, even though the restaurant was so busy. The wine pairing consisted of old world wines and this is the only part of the experience which I would have changed a bit. That being said, I absolutely adored the food at Restaurant Le Faubourg inside of the Sofitel Berlin. The chef and team clearly have tremendous talent and I highly recommend Le Faubourg if you love incredible food, ambiance, and service!
