Normally, while traveling, I focus on local cuisine. When I was recommended Rossini’s Italian restaurant in Bangkok, I didn’t get too excited because it was out of my Thai food tunnel-vision. However, once I began to experience a dinner there recently I fell in love. Rossini’s is located inside of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit Luxury Collection hotel. Their menu is divided into four set menus, but all can be ordered à la carte. Originally, I was going to order a set menu but under the suggestion of Mr. Rubel, the hotel manager of the hotel, I decided to go with his several recommendations.
But first things first, I ordered a glass of Ferrari champagne to get the ball rolling! Shortly after came a pleasant amuse bouche.
Mr. Rubel’s first recommendation was the Burrata. This is imported from Italy but I have been to Italy several times and I did not have cheese this amazing! It was served with tomatoes, a salad and red sauce. This all perfectly balanced the creamy cheese. I’d have to reiterate this recommendation!
What was up next was the asparagus soup which is actually no longer on the menu. This was pleasant but fairly mild in flavor.
It was time to get a little bit more serious and this is when the soft potato gnocchi arrived with mushrooms and black truffle. This is one of those dishes that was simply love at first sight. Just look how gorgeous!
The main event had finally arrived which was paired with a lovely 2014 Le Serre Nuove dell’Ornellaia. Rossini’s has a Miyazaki wagyu steak. This is all you really need in life, red wine and an amazing steak. Accompanying this dish also was another, the risotto and beef cheek. I must say, that the wagyu took the cake. Absolutely perfect.
The best way to complete a good Italian meal would be with a glass of limoncello. It’s a sweet lemon liqour and was accompanied with the tiramisu and amaretto ice cream. This meal was impeccable. The atmosphere in this restaurant was perfectly fitting for such a meal, very romantic. Just another reason added to the list of many benefits of staying at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit hotel. Whenever you’re in Bangkok and hungry for some great Italian food, I would highly recommend you to visit Rossini’s.
