Shangri-La China World Summit Wing Hotel: Beijing’s Best View

Last updated on November 6th, 2024

Lots of thoughts come to mind when I think of the Shangri-La China World Summit Wing hotel in Beijin1. The most notable thing about the hotel is the fact that it is 81 stories tall. This behemoth of a building offers spectacular views of Beijing’s Central Business District and beyond. The hotel lobby is actually located on the 64th floor. The hotel operates from the 64th floor up. This is just one Shangri-La hotel of four in the China World complex. I’ve never seen so many Shangri-La branded hotels in such a small area, there are six in the whole of Beijing!

After checking in and meeting the hotel staff, I quickly headed up to the 68th floor to check out my room. When I entered, there was lots of sunlight bursting through the windows. Once the sun went down a little, I was able to get some gorgeous photos of this beautiful room. The part I liked most about the room would be the bathtub and its view. Another part of the room I enjoyed was the large mural behind the bed. The huge painting really adds the Shangri-La touch to the design. I wouldn’t have chose every part of the room myself but overall it offered a nice business feel.

Even though I was just arriving from a day-long tour of the Great Wall, I was ready to hit the gym and burn a few extra calories. The gym covers a large area and has a very extensive amount of equipment. I especially liked the fact that they have plenty of places to do chin-ups and other body-weight exercises. Once finished with my workout, I headed into the locker room to see what they had to offer. A beautiful feature of the locker room would be the giant relaxation pool and of course the sauna and steam room. The pool is just around the corner and has a very unique design. The pillars are offset and provide a very futuristic feel.

Not long after my workout and it was time for rest. The next morning I headed to Grill 79 restaurant for breakfast. It’s important to mention that I also enjoyed dinner there as well and you’ll be able to read about that experience in a another article. I was recently in Malaysia where I was introduced to the beauty that is Laksa. When I saw it on the menu, I had to order and I was very happy that I did. These were some fantastic spicy noodles! The taste was not altered from the authentic taste and I really enjoyed breakfast. In addition to an à la carte menu, they have a very wide-selection at their local and international breakfast buffet. Everything was great. Seriously!

In the afternoon, I headed to afternoon tea in the lobby lounge on the 64th floor. Here, all of the hotel guests are welcome. Tons of cakes, scones and cookies for your delight! Also, in the evening, they have a happy hour with a small selection of alcohol and some snacks.
