During my first visit to São Paulo, Brazil, I had an opportunity to eat dinner at the lovely newly renovated Terraço Jardins Restaurant. The Terraço Jardins Restaurant is located inside of the Renaissance São Paulo Hotel. Before arriving I had seen photos of the interior and they made me super excited to visit because the dining room was so beautiful. During this time I was actually staying at the Marriott Executive Apartments Sao Paulo which you can read about in more detail here.
The dining room of the Terraço Jardins Restaurant makes you feel like you’re in a very spacious and chic greenhouse. This is because the building itself is basically a large glass case. There are lots of plants and delightful soft lighting. The atmosphere is great for taking photos. That being said, there are areas with slightly less light that create a more intimate setting as well. It’s nice to have the best of both worlds!
We were led to our table by a friendly hostess and taken care of for the evening by the waiter named Andre. Andre was attentive, thoughtful, and provided good service throughout the evening. To get things started. I went for the tuna sashimi dish that was meant for sharing. I was impressed that this dish came with the perfect amount of salt. Salt is important to me and this is something that I like about Brazilian chefs, knowing how much is enough. That being said, I did find that sprinkling a bit of lemon on the tuna, really completed the dish and made it pop.
For the main courses we went with the pork cheek, Brazilian seafood stew, and cacio e pepe pasta. Of these three dishes the pasta was my favorite. However, all were fairly tasty and felt like home-cooked meals. Just heartwarming! I also took note of the generous portion sizes which provided good value for money. Nothing really jumped out at me in regards uniqueness, but all were well prepared and balanced.
To finish the evening off I tried the brigadeiro pie and a Brazilian fruit sorbet. If you have a super sweet tooth, the brigadeiro pie is extremely sweet. It was so sweet that I could only eat a couple bites of it before taking a break. The sorbet on the other hand was a bit more tart.
The evening at the Terraço Jardins Restaurant went off without any major hiccups. What stood out to me most was the lovely atmosphere that the dinging room provides. It was only the middle of the week but the restaurant was quite full. Always a great sign! As mentioned before, the food was all fairly decent but nothing that changed my life with originality. All in all, if you’re looking for a quality meal, with great service, and a atmosphere, I would definitely check out the Terraço Jardins Restaurant inside of the Renaissance Sao Paulo Hotel.
