All of the major cities around the world always have at least one landmark hotel, if not a few. These hotels have been around for ages and built strong names based on quality. While visiting Cairo for the first time, I got to visit such a property which was The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo Hotel. This is a hotel that was originally built in 1959 and after a massive renovation, became The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo in 2015. The hotel is truly feature packed and I was excited to visit!

The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo Hotel is located just next to The Egyptian Museum, right in the city’s bustling center. Half of the rooms look out over the Nile River, and the other half over Tahrir Square and the rest of the city. There are two metro lines that intersect just outside of the property. Basically, it’s possible to get anywhere in Cairo or surrounding areas quite easily from the The Nile Ritz-Carlton.
I arrived at the hotel in the evening from the airport by taxi. I was introduced to the intense traffic that Cairo has every single day. I underestimated its fury! Overall. I think it took about an hour to get from the airport to The Nile Ritz-Carlton during rush-hour. Once I arrived at the hotel, I felt like I was walking into a different world, a luxurious world filled with magic and beauty. The lobby reminded me strongly of a palace as it was equipped with chandeliers, red carpets, comfortable seating, courteous staff, and more. When I walked in, a group of staff members were displaying a customized welcome sign that had my name on it. This was a very nice touch that left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside!
The Executive Suite
During the check-in process I learned that I was upgraded to a 96sqm, Nile facing, Executive Suite. I wasn’t surprised! Wink. The first thing I noticed when I entered the Executive Suite was the incredible view. I could see a The Nile River, Gezira Island, and even the pyramids when the weather was clear. The style of the suite offered a traditional sense of luxury.
The Executive Suite had a very large living room with a comfortable seating area, coffee and tea station, massive television, working desk with office chair, bluetooth speaker, entry closet, and a half bathroom. A feature that was really appreciate were the electric curtains in both living room and bedroom.
The bedroom of the Executive Suite was fairly spacious. The room had a king size bed, which was very comfortable and overall helped me sleep well. In the bedroom, there was also a seating area with coffee-table, television, and two large closets. Perfect for short or long stays.
The bathroom was simply massive and covered in marble. This made for a bright and refreshing atmosphere. There was a dual sink vanity, huge bathtub, separated shower stall, separated toilet stall, and toiletries by Asprey London.
For the COVID 19 pandemic, the hotel also offered the basic necessities to stay safe, such as masks and hand sanitizer.
The Nile Ritz-Carlton Hotel Cairo offered me several very lovely welcome amenities. If the fruit and sweets weren’t enough, the staff created a multiple day tour guide for each day of my visit. The level of thoughtfulness made me feel truly cared for. Thank you!
The breakfast took place in their all-day dining restaurant Culina. There was both indoor and outdoor seating. It was a decent sized breakfast buffet with both local Egyptian items such as falafel and ful and also Western items such as an egg station. The falafel I had at breakfast was seriously tasty! I’d recommend you ask them to make it fresh as it will taste much better than the ones sitting out.
The service at breakfast was truly impeccable. After the first day the staff began to remember my orders and knew exactly what I wanted. Good memory is very important when it comes to top-quality service. Pierre approves!
I had a chance to eat dinner at their lovely Italian restaurant overlooking the Nile called Vivo. The views were obviously stunning and the interior design created a very intimate atmosphere. For the evening I tried the octopus, mushroom risotto, and the deconstructed tiramisu. Muhamed Hossein, who was one of the service staff members, went above and beyond to make me feel welcomed and even offered some travel advice within Egypt. Overall, the lovely meal along with warm service made for a delightful time.
This property had everything when it came to facilities. First, let’s discuss the massive outdoor pool. Simply put, it’s glorious! Very long, a beautiful design, and lots of great seating. You can’t lose!
Up one level from the pool is the fitness facility. Inside the gym there was loads of the finest equipment. All I ever needed and more. There were weight machines, free weights, and lots of cardio machines to choose from. Plus, if all the equipment wasn’t enough, the gym faced the Nile River. Overall I was impressed and enjoyed several great workouts.
During my stay, I learned that there was a beautiful club lounge, but unfortunately because of the pandemic, I was unable to visit because it was temporarily closed. I did get to take a quick tour and it looked like a great space to relax and enjoy some food and beverages during normal times.
The Nile Ritz-Carlton, in addition to all of its other facilities, has a lovely fully equipped spa. I arrived for my massage and was fairly quickly shown to the treatment room. The treatment room was standard but still lovely. My therapist was Koy from Thailand which immediately let me know I was in for a fantastic massage. For those of you that didn’t know, I lived in Bangkok for 3 years. Thailand is famous for turning out absolutely fantastic massage therapists. The massage commenced and I must report that my assumptions were proved true. An absolutely fantastic massage!
The Nile Ritz-Carlton went above and beyond when it came to the service. Some details I noticed were that the staff seemed to pick up on my habits quickly. For example, they organized all of my items on my desk each day, and I was a little messy. They even placed a bottle of water strategically next to my daily pills. Another example was after a couple days of realizing I only slept with one pillow, they removed the others. Finally, upon arrival and departure they had prepared customized signs to welcome me and say goodbye. Overall, I was very impressed with the amazing service that didn’t have any hiccups!
The Nile Ritz-Carlton is truly a luxury hotel that competes for the city’s top spot. The level of service is simply above and beyond. The Nile Ritz-Carlton Cairo Hotel scores high in all regards and makes for an ideal hotel to stay at while visiting Cairo, Egypt. Go go go!
