Over the last few years I’ve stayed in several Conrad Hotels and I’ve always enjoyed them thoroughly! Feel free to read about my prior Conrad stays in Conrad Bangkok, Conrad Seoul, Conrad Singapore, and Conrad Algarve. This is a brand in the Hilton umbrella that appears in their luxury category. I’ve found the brand to be quite consistent in the past and I was excited to add yet another Conrad Hotel to my list in Cairo, Egypt. During my stay in late 2020, the property was in the beginning phases of a complete renovation. Nevertheless, I was happy to experience the property as is and observe their journey to the next phase!

The Conrad Cairo is located in the center of the city right beside the Nile River. From the property, it was easy to visit many destinations including the famous Egyptian Museum, Gezira Island which is home to the high-end Zamalek district, Cairo Tower, and also easy to drive to the Pyramids of Giza and more. That being said, avoid rush hour traffic when possible. Oh wait, it’s always rush hour in Cairo. Don’t worry I’m only half joking! The strategic location and the fact that every room has a balcony with Nile view is super impressive in my book.
I arrived in the afternoon and was taken aback by the glorious Conrad Cairo lobby. The ceilings were very high and the staff were very warm. No matter how many times I passed through the glorious lobby, I always took some time to appreciate the space. All hotel lobbies should be similar to this! The check in process was very smooth as they were expecting me. I learned that I was offered a suite on the 10th floor and was excited to go have a look!
During my seven-night stay I secured a luxurious King Executive Suite with Nile View on the 10th floor. The suite featured two sizeable balconies, large living room, full kitchen, half-bathroom, bedroom, and a full master bathroom. Gold accents, comfortable furniture, and the stunning views of the Nile all impressed me.
This suite had its own kitchen which was clearly something special. Whether I used it at all during my stay is another question altogether! Regardless, it could be very useful for the right situations.
The living room of the suite was very spacious indeed, equipped with its own balcony. I flopped on the comfortable sofa several times after being out exploring Cairo all day. In the living room there were lots of places to lounge, and also a dining room table with chairs. With all this space, the suite could easily handle a family.
Let’s move through the living room and over to the bedroom, shall we? As the name of the suite suggests, the bed was king size and super comfortable with soft bedding. Some other notable features included another sofa and coffee table, working desk and chair, another large TV, coffee and tea station with kettle, and a large closet with plenty of storage space. This generation of room didn’t have a coffee machine but the newer room designs include modern capsule coffee makers.
Just down the hall was the well equipped master bathroom. Inside there was a bathtub, shower stall, toilet, bidet, and a single sink vanity. The Conrad Cairo uses Shanghai Tang toiletries which I’ve become familiar with from other glorious Conrad properties. I now smelled nice!
What stood out to me out of the entire stay was the truly impressive level of service. I learned that a lot of the staff members had been there for years so they had a high level of experience and acted accordingly. For example, my housekeeper had been there since the original opening which was 15 years prior. The way he said my name always made me chuckle, it sounded like “Mr. Pikka”. The top-notch service carried over to all parts of the property. Not once did I have any unfavorable encounters with the staff in the entire week, which is something special.
Even during the pandemic the Conrad Cairo offer daily cleaning and turndown service. During that time they paid great attention to detail and delivered several food amenities which I greatly appreciated. Most days were fresh fruit and some variety of local sweets! Too bad this didn’t carry on once I left the hotel.
Food and Beverage
The Conrad Cairo has several food and beverage outlets that I was able to experience during my stay. Unfortunately, because of the pandemic, several restaurants were temporarily closed, and the Executive Club Lounge was moved to the second floor until things returned to normal. That being said, I still had the opportunity to enjoy several glorious meals at Solana all-day dining restaurant, Atrium lobby café, as well as at Jayda Nile Terrace on the third floor. It’s important to note that all of these outlets have a Nile River view!
During my stay breakfast was at Solana and ordered à la carte. Overall, I felt that the food at breakfast was tasty and matched with good service. Specifically, I was most impressed with Mr. Tarek Sadek, a server who was always on point with service and always had a good attitude. I’ll miss you buddy! When it came to food, what struck me the most was the quality of the fresh fruit and also fresh juice. Go for the guava or mango if you have a chance! The rest of the food was mostly nice as well and included both Western and Egyptian options.
One morning I went for a room service breakfast on my suite’s balcony. Everything was magnificent! It’s Pierre recommended if you have a chance!
Just as with the physical renovation of the Conrad Cairo, their menus are also getting a full makeover. During my stay I got to sample lots of the current menu items but I won’t say too much because it seems lots will change. It will be exciting to see what they come up with during my next visit!
When it comes to facilities, the Conrad Cairo has it all and is basically a beach resort within Cairo (replace the beach with a heated pool.) In addition to the massive rooftop pool there is a well-equipped fitness center, spa, steam rooms, and saunas. The fitness center had modern equipment and also was staffed with very friendly and accommodating employees.
I had the pleasure of having two massages at their spa inside of the health club. Both were oil massages and both done by the same therapist. The fact that I came back for more should illustrate how much I enjoyed myself. Wink. The facilities were rather simple but the quality of the massage was just lovely. The technique was something a bit different but enjoyable and effective nonetheless. Fantastic!
As mentioned, I learned that the Conrad Cairo had started the process of renovation and should complete within two years. During my stay I got a sneak preview of what was to come with a model room tour. The new room designs are simply glorious and reminded me strongly of the other Conrad properties I’ve stayed in recently such as Conrad Bangkok and Conrad Singapore. Can’t wait to return once it’s complete!
Overall, the Conrad Cairo is a lovely property currently and will only get better with the renovation. It’s filled with the warmest hotel staff that you will find anywhere in the world! What struck me most during my first visit to Egypt was the hearts of the people. They have a lot of character and are truly authentic, and the Conrad is filled with these lovely people! This impressive service matched with the hotel’s great location, and extensive facilities make this a very enjoyable luxury hotel to stay at! I hope to visit again soon!
