I’ll just put it out there that some of the best food I ate while in Armenia was at the Zanazan Restaurant on the east side of Lake Sevan! The restaurant belongs to Tufenkian Avan Tsagapath Hotel, which you can read about in a separate article here. The restaurant isn’t connected to the hotel and sits a few hundred meters away. It was a chilly walk while I was there, but well worth it!
When I opened the front door, there was a lot to take in. The tall ceilings made it feel very spacious, but the soft lighting, fireplace, and music, made for a cozy and warm atmosphere.
The staff at the Zanazan Restaurant were some of the nicest people I had met while visiting Armenia. They offered a very high-level of service throughout each of my six visits. I was very impressed at the level of hospitality. I ate multiple breakfasts and dinners at the restaurant, but for this article, I’ll focus on the lunch and dinner menu. With all my visits, I got to try a wide variety of the local Armenian dishes.
Everything I ate was simply fantastic and bursting with flavor! I had been introduced to many of the dishes previously while in Yerevan but was impressed with the even better versions at Zanazan Restaurant at Lake Sevan. Whoever’s in that kitchen really knows what they’re doing! Everything was on point. They have a very wide selection of food in their menu, mostly local dishes with locally sourced ingredients, including lots of fish from the lake. You can’t go wrong with any of the options!
If you’re in Armenia and near Lake Sevan, Zanazan Restaurant is a must. This restaurant met all of the criteria for a truly great dining experience worldwide. The classy atmosphere, warm and attentive service, and consistently delicious food make for a truly remarkable experience. I can’t wait to go back!
