My last Tufenkian property during my first trip to Armenia was in Dzoraget. Previously I had visited Tufenkian hotels in Yerevan, Lake Sevan, and Dilijan. Also be sure to read about my favorite Armenian food along Lake Sevan! The Dzoraget property is located inside of a giant gorge with huge cliff faces on either side in the north of the country. The brand promotes its hotels as “Heritage Hotels” and this property has a strong rustic design.

It took an hour and 15 minute drive from Dilijan where I stayed at Tufenkian Old Dilijan Complex Hotel which you can read about in a separate article. I met the friendly staff at the reception counter and then checked into my room on the second floor.
After visiting three other Tufenkian properties I was prepared for what to expect in terms of room design. The room was a bit more modern than the others I had experienced. It did have a few rustic elements thrown in, including the headboard and bedding. The view from the window was looking out over the garden which was quite a nice view. The room had a lounge chair, coffee maker with instant coffee and tea, convenient outlets, a large working desk, and more.
I was pleased to find a bathtub and shower combination, and a single sink vanity in the bathroom.
Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget Hotel had a bit more than the other Tufenkian properties in terms of facilities. This property had an indoor pool, modest fitness center, ping-pong table, multiple dry saunas, billiards table, large patio, and lots of places to relax. Lots of room to stretch out!
There were a lot of very photogenic areas of the property that truly encompassed the rustic charm of the property. I saw people who stopped to simply take pictures at the property. Its location is simply stunning!
Everything I ate was at the restaurant on the first floor of the Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget Hotel. The lunch and dinner menu was very similar at all of the Tufenkian properties I’ve visited. However, each location does seem to have a few local specialties in addition to the more standard Armenian dishes that are offered nationwide. Overall, everything I ate was quite good but my recommendation would be for the eggplant stuffed with meat!
Breakfast was in a buffet format. This was the most extensive buffet at any Tufenkian Hotel that I’ve had. Still focusing on local cuisine, there were just a lot more options. The fruit in Armenia has been simply incredible. I never knew it could taste so sweet outside of Southeast Asia. Now I know!
My stay at the Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget Hotel was quite smooth! This is one of their best properties in terms of facilities. That being said, there were some areas for improvement. If you’re looking to explore northern Armenia you definitely need to check out the Tufenkian Avan Dzoraget Hotel!
