As I was making my way around the country of Armenia on my maiden voyage, I paid a visit to the Tufenkian Avan Tsagapath Hotel that sits on the east side of Lake Sevan. I had just stayed at the Tufenkian Historic Yerevan Hotel (which you can read about here) and by car, only took about 1.5 hours to reach the property. There is a small community surrounding the Tufenkian Avan Tsagapath but I only saw a handful of locals during my three day visit. This made for a very calm atmosphere.

The property is quite gorgeous and I was quite impressed by their beautiful outdoor pool. This pool has a great view of Lake Sevan. Next to the pool there is a bar, hot tub, tennis court, children’s playground, and lots of lounge chairs. A great place to take amazing photos!
The room had a balcony which looked out over the farmland that surrounded the property. It’s so quiet and peaceful. The design of the hotel room was that of an old cabin, very historic feeling as the Tufenkian brand is focused on. It felt like a classic family getaway. Some of the features of the room included a mini refrigerator, teakettle, instant coffee, tea, a separate bed, and a lounge chair.
In the bathroom there was a shower stall and single-sink vanity. I liked the rock walls in the shower.
The property also had a lounge area on the second floor that has a fireplace and a billiards table. I can imagine it would be a great place to spend time during colder months.
Next to the pool there was a dry sauna and a small cold plunge pool. I really enjoyed bouncing back and forth between the heat of the sauna and the cold of the pool.
A few hundred meters away from the main hotel is the Zanazan Restaurant. This is where breakfast, lunch, and dinner were served. The dining room was just beautiful and they had a good choice in music which set a great ambiance. During my stay I found the food and staff to be incredibly delightful. The breakfast was normally a buffet focusing on local dishes that were absolutely delicious.
I enjoyed the food so much that I’ve written about my dinner experiences in another article here. Everything I ate was fantastic and actually better than what I had in Yerevan. The menu for lunch and dinner is the same and includes lots of local Armenian favorites, which I would highly recommend. Whether you’re a hotel guest or not, Zanazan Restaurant is worth the visit!
Tufenkian Avan Tsagapath Hotel is absolutely stunning! I had such a great time visiting during the low season. The service was great and warm, the food was the best I had so far in Armenia, and the location truly spectacular in the countryside. Without a doubt I can recommend a getaway at the Tufenkian Avan Tsagapath Hotel.
