I’m starting to think that I should end every country or city trip with a beach resort. They always put me in such a great mood and it’s a very good way to be sent off!

After exploring many places in Jordan including Petra we continued to drive south to the bottom of the country and stay at the Intercontinental in Aqaba. Previously I stayed at the Intercontinental in Amman which you must read about!
It turned out to be one of the best beach resorts that I have ever been to. I also learned that it won an award in 2015 for Best Luxury Beach Resort in the Middle East by World Luxury Hotel awards. Whether it had an award or not I knew that it was fantastic! Not only the resort was great but the weather was perfect also. Take a look at these blue skies!
From Amman, Aqaba is approximately a 3.5 to 4 hour drive. It may feel like a little bit of a hike but once you arrive you’ll so happy that you came. They keep this whole property looking absolutely flawless. Inside the hotel and outside the hotel the grounds are maintained and looking beautiful all of the time.
After exploring Petra for a day I arrived at around 8pm and checked into my room that had a beautiful view. The resort had all of the amenities I was accustomed to. Construction of everything was very solid. The room had a fantastic balcony where I would sit and watch the sunrise.
A major plus to my room was the location on the top floor which was the same floor as the executive lounge. As you remember from my review of the other hotels in Jordan, Pierre loves a good lounge. Not all lounges are considered equal. The lounges at the Intercontinental hotels always seem to be fantastic. The service was great, the seating was very comfortable not to mention the food was on another level!
You can start your day for breakfast in the lounge or on the beach level where most of the hotel guests will be. Both are fantastic it just depends on what you’re interested in. If you want a more private and quiet setting then I would suggest you stick to the lounge but if you want a wider selection of food and you enjoy people watching I would go down to the beach.
Another feature of the resort that I really liked was the gym and locker room area. They not only had a fantastic gym, they had a giant jacuzzi inside the locker room as well as a steam room and sauna. I basically use the two days at the resort to unwind and prepare for my next destination which was London.
I met a lot of staff members and they were all very helpful and gave me great service. All of these great personal encounters tend to stick with me and leave a happy feeling in my heart.
I really have no qualms with the resort. It was a completely flawless stay! I loved everything, especially the lounge, the service, the beach and the grounds. The next time you go to Jordan you will have the greatest time if you visit any of the Intercontinental hotels including the Intercontinental Hotel and resort in Aqaba!
