One very memorable meal during my time in Rome was at Le Jardin de Russie at the Hotel de Russie. When you arrive at the property, the first thing you’ll probably notice, is the gorgeous outdoor terrace.
It was so inviting, I decided to order a drink and have a few snacks before the real meal started. The ambiance on the terrace is magical and really hard to beat. Little touches like a giant single cube of ice made my drink stand out.
After my wonderful drink and snacks on the terrace, I headed up the staircase and into Le Jardin de Russie restaurant. You enter into a sea of white, with green accents throughout. The area really feels like an oasis in the middle of the bustling metropolis that is Rome. The menu is full of classic Italian dishes!
To get the meal started, there was a small amuse bouche which was a small piece of fish in a sea of cream with a truffle slice perched on the top. This had a great taste and got me excited for what was to come.
The next dish that came highly recommended by the glorious service staff, was the focaccine with artichokes, cheese and black truffle. As you can see, this dish looked like it came straight down from heaven. Incredibly gorgeous and flavor that was bursting out. Lovely.
The next item up on the food marathon that was the evening, was an order of seared scallops with Jerusalem artichokes and more black truffle. This dish look like it was made by a true artist. The scallops were perfectly seared. Another home run and the excitement was even greater!
Of course, I wanted to try a few very traditional dishes which included the Spaghetti “Pomodoro e Basilico” and the Ravioli “Cacio e Pepe.” I must say that the spaghetti stole my heart and was definitely one of the best pastas I’ve ever had.
Before I get too far ahead of myself I must say that there were some glorious wines that accompanied the food. Probably my favorite of the evening was Fiorano Vino Bianco. The rest of the wines were also very nice and paired elegantly with the food.
For the mains, I went with the John Dory with artichokes and the Italian Wagyu beef. The John Dory was quite nice in looks and taste and came accompanied with those magical mashed potatoes that were almost unthinkably creamy. The John Dory was my favorite of the two.
For the dessert I was served a tiramisu with ice cream. This dessert looked fantastic but could have been a little more moist.
This meal was overall full of exciting flavors! It all started with that first magical drink on the terrace, which I would highly recommend whether you stay for dinner or not. The service at both outlets was glorious, the quality of the food was top-notch and everything looked beautiful. Without hesitation, I can greatly recommend the Le Jardin de Russie at the Hotel de Russie in Rome!
