During my incredible stay at the Conrad Algarve Resort I had a chance to have a dinner at their Louro Restaurant. Louro is the all day dining restaurant at the resort and where I also had breakfast during my stay. My father and I arrived early and were greeted by a delightful hostess.
Since we were first to arrive we had the choice to sit anywhere, and there were many great options, some even look over the pool! This was also when I noticed the stylish and comfortable seating. A good place to spend a long time.
To get things started I ordered a Virgin Bloody Mary, extra spicy, just how I like it! Soon to follow were several amuse bouches, provided by the chef. The olives were my favorite, but on the salty side!
For the evening I had a chance to sample several dishes to see what Louro had to offer. First were the oysters and an order of ceviche. The oysters came accompanied with lemon and vinegar sauce. Even though I love vinegar, I just went for the lemon and a little bit of salt which quickly helped slide me into food heaven!
The ceviche had a olive explosion placed on top. The olive explosion was a tiny bubble filled with olive juice which exploded in your mouth when bitten into. I like when restaurants do something a bit unique. The ceviche was good but a little bit on the sweeter side. A quick squeeze of lemon fixed this to fit my tastes.
For the main course, we went for a Seabass which was baked in sea salt. This turned out to be more of a an entertaining table-side theater than a simple fish dish. To break up the salt they lit the fish on fire. Fire is always a good touch in my book, as long as I’m not getting burned! My eyebrows luckily stayed on my face. The fish was good and juicy as promised. The flavor was on the milder side but still something I could appreciate.
For dessert we ordered a few items to give the menu a full shakedown. The favorites of the evening were the Chocolate and the O Coral. The amount of textures and rich flavors really blew me away. I was then offered glasses of Taylor’s Extra Dry White Port as well as Taylor’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port.
Towards the end of the meal a solo guitar player and singer arrived to entertain. It added a great mood to the space as he was very talented. I’d definitely recommend booking your meal on a day when there is live music.
Overall, the food, drink, service, and atmosphere at the Louro Restaurant were quite good. If you’re looking to have fantastic dinner experience in Algarve, Portugal, definitely check out the Louro Restaurant at Conrad Algarve Resort!
