I was quite familiar with the Anantara brand because it’s originally from Thailand, where I used to live. I was very excited to visit the Algarve Resort in the south of Portugal during my father son trip. Anantara Resort is located in Vilamoura which is a resort area of Portugal filled with lots of tourist attractions including golf and water sports. Immediately upon driving to the front door I felt that it was going to be a true luxury experience because the driveway and entrance were gorgeous!

The lobby was grand and offered a great first impression of the Anantara Algarve. After a smooth check in process, it was up to the second floor to see my room. It took a few minutes to walk to the side of the property where my room was because it’s such a large property. It was a spacious room with a tasteful style and connected bathroom. The bed was incredibly large, seeming much bigger than a normal king-size mattress. The bedding was super comfortable! This resort room featured a lovely balcony, coffee and tea station, international outlets, and more. This was a stylish and spacious room with lots of comfort. Pierre was happy!
The bathroom was also large and could be closed off from the room with the sliding doors. Inside there was a bathtub, shower stall, and a single sink vanity. The toilet and bidet were separated in their own small room in the entryway.
I’d like to thank the Anantara team for the lovely welcome gift that included tawny port wine, sweets, and fruit. Lovely!
Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort is incredibly expansive and features multiple pools, a huge fitness facility, connected golf course, and a large spa with steam, dry sauna and vitality pool. It’s a true holiday getaway! Each facility was of the highest quality and most of the time offered more than expected, such as at the fitness center and the spa. Well played Anantara!
Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort’s breakfast takes place on the ground floor of the property. It’s in a large buffet format and accompanied with attentive service. I was really impressed that all of the food I bit into was incredibly well seasoned! I really didn’t have the urge to add anything such as hot sauce, which is rare. I highly recommend you try the Portuguese style eggs that came well seasoned and filled with chorizo, vegetables, and potatoes!
During the second night of the stay, we went for a tasting menu at their EMO Restaurant. I honestly didn’t know what to expect, but the quality food at breakfast gave me a decent hint. The interior of EMO was modern with dark colors which set the stage for a culinary adventure. Upon arrival, the staff were quick to take care of us and then provide fantastic service for the rest of the evening. It was only a three-course tasting menu, but each dish was executed perfectly. My major takeaway was that whomever was in the kitchen had an incredible knowledge of balancing flavors. Each of the three courses were perfectly balanced, beautiful, providing lots of excitement with the depth of flavors. The paired wines were also absolutely fantastic. Whether you’re visiting the resort or not, EMO is definitely worth a visit!
The Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort is a true luxury property. No matter if you’re coming with peope or alone, this place has enough to keep you busy. I can’t wait to come back for more and experience the great service and lovely facilities. I can easily recommend a stay at the Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort and a meal at the EMO Restaurant!
