Movenpick Hotel Review (Bangkok, Thailand)

Last updated on April 22nd, 2025

The last few weeks I’ve been traveling all around Bangkok, exploring a variety of neighborhoods. Now I am right in the city center on Sukhumvit soi 15 at the Movenpick hotel. I have stayed at several Movenpick properties worldwide including the Movenpick Dead Sea resort in Jordan and the Movenpick in Beirut. The Bangkok property brought the same level of high-quality service and facilities to the table. Whereas the other properties were resorts, this is definitely a city-center hotel.

The Movenpick is quite fresh and new considering it’s only one year old! Currently, the property is 100% functional. However, they’re currently working on an addition to add about 50 new rooms. It’s located about 350 meters off of Sukhumvit road which is the main street. They offer a free shuttle that runs very frequently to the nearest shopping mall called Terminal 21, subway station and sky train station. Convenience level on high!

After waiting for a while at the normal check-in area, I was informed that I could check in at the club lounge on the 6th floor. What a nice surprise! The lounge is magnificent with a very beautifully modern design. A huge plus was that my room was about 2 meters from the lounge!

Being familiar with the brand, I knew exactly what to expect when it came to the facilities and rooms. Inside the room, you’ll find everything you could desire. Some hotels in Asia are lacking espresso machines but not here, they had a really nice machine. A perfect solution for getting my caffeine kick when it was grind time. They also had a nice bathtub with a window which really opens up the room.

As mentioned before, Pierre is a strong advocate for the lounge life. At this particular lounge, they offer happy hour from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The selection of food is really quite incredible, especially during the evening. Actually it’s quite impressive throughout the day, also including breakfast. The alcohol and beverage selection is quite nice as well. Not super over-the-top, but it has all of the classics.

After a great evening in the lounge the first night, I definitely had to get a good workout in afterwards. The gym is a floor or two above the lounge and I must say I really enjoyed the equipment. Even though it wasn’t very large they had three treadmills. Well done! They also offered a nice selection of free weights and one machine that will help you hit all the parts of your body.

The first morning I ate lunch in their beloved lounge. Usually, the trend is to have a much smaller selection in the lounge than in the main breakfast, but this was quite the contrary. This breakfast selection was absolutely huge! You’re also able to order à la carte items which is a nice touch. The staff there is also very attentive and always around when you need them.

The following day, my last day, I went down to tour the main breakfast. Of course they have a wider selection, but you also have a lot more people and a completely different atmosphere. I prefer a quiet atmosphere during my breakfast so I decided to stay in the lounge but if you would like to be around others and enjoy a wider selection, then I recommend you to have your breakfast on the ground floor.

They do have quite an impressive pool on the rooftop. I was there during the rainy season but I managed to catch some sunlight after a brief shower to deliver these images to you. You’re welcome. It really is a great place to relax. The hotel does not offer a steam room or sauna.

When it was all said and done, I had a great time at the Movenpick hotel in Bangkok. This is a very fresh property. The service was on point throughout my stay and I believe that they have a solid offering at this property. If you’re looking for a great hotel in the city-center, then I would definitely recommend you visit the Movenpick hotel in Bangkok!
