My trip to Lyon was a very short one the first time around. I was coming from Switzerland and about to start a cruise in the south of France. To make the travel easier, I stopped in Lyon for a night and stayed at the Okko hotel.

It’s a design-oriented hotel in the city center. The day I arrived, the weather was perfect and I was able to explore a bit around the hotel, it is a very beautiful area. The staff helped me with some travel arrangements and then I checked out the room!
I didn’t have any idea what to expect upon arrival. When I opened the door to my room, I saw a very artistic and aesthetically pleasing design. The bathroom was encased in a work of art! I’ve never seen this type of design before, and it was very refreshing. The bed was also quite comfortable.
A truly wonderful feature about this hotel is that they offer a lounge which is stocked with refreshments throughout the day. In the evening there is also a happy hour. These aren’t just any refreshments folks, they were amazing! They have a wide variety of meat, cheese and bread for your enjoyment. Thank you French cuisine, I appreciate you.
My trip was so fast that I didn’t have time to use their gym, but they have one on the first floor. It comes equipped with a few exercise machines and some free weights. The hotel is located along the river which is also a wonderful place to run so you have options!
The next morning I awoke and headed down to check out the breakfast that was in the lounge. The food is exactly what I expected, French and tasty. A wide variety of bread, yogurt, cheese and of course, coffee. All of the bread was out of this world! A few hours after breakfast and it was time to head down to Avignon to begin the cruise. You’ll definitely have to read about it soon!
I’m very happy to have stopped in Lyon, even if it was for only a short while. The hotel was fantastic and full of happy customers. The food was great, the service was top-notch and the design was very memorable. The next time you are traveling in Lyon, I highly recommend you to stay at the Okko hotel!
