Shangri-La China World Hotel Review (Beijing, China)

Last updated on February 5th, 2025

My last hotel in Beijing during my first trip to China, was the China World Shangri-La hotel in the Central Business District of Beijing. When I walked into the lobby, I felt right at home. The public areas are glamorous. This means lots of shiny things like chandeliers, bright skylights and marble floors. Yes, it’s the traditional luxury that the Pierre loves.

My giant room with a great view happened to be one that was recently updated. It definitely had plenty of space to stretch-out. There was a city view of a very busy intersection. Inside the room you’ll find a large seating area, a great desk for working and an impressive bathroom with both shower and bathtub.

I’m so fortunate, they recently updated their lounge and business center on the third floor. The theme is very similar to my room with lots of blue and dark green colors. They match these colors with gray and this gives quite a nice business feel. On my tour of the premise, I was informed about their large spaces for hosting events. If you’re interested in getting married or having a conference in Beijing, this is the place to do it.

Let’s get back to the lounge! The offering is quite extensive and obviously includes a grand breakfast, afternoon tea and a full-sized dinner. The food is great and they have so many options to choose from. One of the nights, they even had nachos! Plus 200 points!

The lobby is super gorgeous as I’ve mentioned and it is a great place for afternoon tea. They have live music which adds an elegance to the property.

They have a gym in the basement and it’s quite large. Although giant, it could use a bit of an update. Also, it’s important to note that they opened the gym to members from the outside so this leads to being quite busy during peak hours.

I love classic hotels that have a lot to offer. The lobby is a beautiful sight to see, the F&B outlets are great and the lounge is pure quality. During my stay, I had a chance to try their Aria restaurant which you have to read about in a separate article. When it was all said and done, I enjoyed my time at the Shangri-La China World hotel and think you will too!
