China World hotel is a classic in Beijing. Inside they have a restaurant called Aria. Aria is a fine dining restaurant and currently has a Spanish chef so there are lots of Spanish influences.
The dining room is fairly old-school and there weren’t very many customers when we arrived. To start the meal off, we went with champagne, of course. Following was an appetizer plate. I especially enjoyed the salmon ceviche.
The rest of the food had a great appearance but not all of the dishes got me excited. When things started to get interesting was at the time of the spinach risotto. The risotto was cooked perfectly and the seafood as well.
Now it was time for the main event, the Australian wagyu sirloin. This was of course accompanied with a lovely 2011 Therra PoderNuovo. The steak was cooked absolutely perfectly and melted in my mouth like an ice cube. This was by far the best part of the evening!
With such a feast, we had to finish it off with an impressive dessert. This dessert was a chocolate ball in which they lit on fire and melted before our eyes. I love when they do a little something extra for dessert. Fire on the table is always a nice touch! Overall, the meal and the dining experience at Aria was pleasant. Not all of the dishes were super impressive but most I did enjoy. When it was all said and done, I had a great evening.
