It is been five years since I’ve visited Tokyo last and I was extremely excited to return. I flew in from Kuala Lumpur and landed late in the evening. Luckily, the Shangri-La staff was awaiting my arrival and swiftly picked me up at the airport.

We hopped into the private car equipped with Wi-Fi and we’re on our way to the hotel. The hotel is located just next-door to Tokyo station which is the most convenient in the city.
I’ve stayed at a few Shangri-La hotels lately and I’ve realized that they often have different styles. Just a week prior, I stayed at their flagship property in Singapore which you can read about in a separate article. The Tokyo property felt completely different than the Singapore property. Still high-quality just with a different feel.
Walking into the room felt like I was walking into my home. The styling was actually built for comfort but the aesthetic was quite pleasant also. I must admit that the bedding was super-soft. I am so happy every time I climb into a comfortable bed. There was a nice sofa which you can sit and observe the beautiful view.
The staff was nice enough to leave me a plethora of snacks. When I’m hungry after a long flight and I arrive to find these treats, I devour them. The things that look like rocks are actually cakes and have quite an exquisite taste. Very creative and beautiful to look at as well!
Walking around the hotel, you’ll notice lots of art and an aesthetically pleasing design. The hotel staff really knows how to take care of you. They even included a pocket Wi-Fi so I could roam the city with internet access. How convenient.
This hotel was well-designed throughout. Of course, I was located on the same level as their Horizon Club lounge which was a nice touch. The lounge has your standard morning breakfast, afternoon tea and refreshments as well as an evening cocktail hour. The view from the lounge is magnificent and gives me another vantage point of Tokyo. I really enjoyed this lounge and the food and beverages offered were just splendid.
The hotel boasts a large indoor pool with a city view. The gym looks over the pool and is also connected to a wonderful relaxation and locker room. The gym has all the equipment needed to stay fit and strong. I really enjoyed the relaxation areas, they had a very nice hot tub which had a beautiful design. Going along with this relaxation feel is their Chi Spa. I had a 90 minute massage and I’ve documented my experience at the spa in a separate article which you MUST read about. Highly recommended!
I stayed at the property for two nights. I enjoyed the breakfast at the Horizon Club lounge as well as a room service breakfast. This room service is definitely what I would recommend! I ordered the Japanese breakfast and each item was simply extraordinary. Not only did I have the luxury to sit in privacy with a beautiful view, but I had an absolutely amazing traditional Japanese breakfast to go along with it.
I’d like to take a note of how perfect and flawless the service at this hotel was. When I was speaking with the staff members, I mentioned that I liked Japanese ramen. The first morning when I was at breakfast without my knowledge, the staff put together a list of must try ramen shops in Tokyo. When a hotel goes above and beyond, it really puts a warm feeling in my heart. These are the little differences that set a brand apart from its competitors. The human touch.
The stay at the Shangri-La hotel in Tokyo was perfect. The hotel really knows how to make you feel special. The food was very nice. During my stay I also had a chance to have a dinner at their Japanese restaurant which you also have to read about a separate article. I really felt a genuine sense of caring from the staff at the hotel. Everything was done with care, and all of the details were taken care of. I have not yet stayed in all of the hotels in Tokyo, however, I can confidently say that the Shangri-La Tokyo is one of the best. My experience there was extraordinary and I’m 100% confident that you will have a great experience as well. I love Japan and the next time you visit Tokyo, you should stay at the Shangri-La hotel!
