I have to admit that I was already a big fan of the Park Hyatt in Vienna before my most recent visit. I visited the hotel last October and you can read about my stay during that time in this article. This time around, was not for a stay, but all about food and drink. In March, they released their new concept for The Bank Brasserie and Bar. As soon as I heard the news, I was super excited to visit!
This concept takes place in their beautiful historic banking hall. This amazing room really left a strong impression on me during my first visit. It’s where I had breakfast and I couldn’t help but admire all of the details throughout the hall. Now, I was here a few months later having dinner.
We started the meal off right with a great surprise. I told my server what type of spirit I was interested in, and he brought something unique. I believe the name of the cocktail was called “Wood it Be” and it came in such a unique cup. Very tasty and refreshing indeed.
For the first order of food, we went with a half order of their enormous seafood platter. Even though it was a half order, it was still very large! All of the seafood on the platter, was amazing and of the highest quality.
For the next round of enjoyment, we went with a stuffed squid and a shallot tarte tatin. I must admit that I fell in love immediately with the stuffed squid. It was stuffed with blood sausage and I’m becoming a huge fan of this type of sausage.
Looking back, I think if I had to do the meal over, I would try more of their cocktails because they offer many signature cocktails. For this meal, I had a chance to try the one and then stuck with wine for the remainder, which was also nice. I guess I’ll have to wait until next time!
For the main event, I ordered a flank steak, if you’re unfamiliar, it’s a cut from the lower stomach. It came with seasoned fries that were out of this world. The steak itself had great flavor but I believe because of the cut, was a little bit tough.
I must admit that the traditional Austrian dessert known as the Schmarrn won my heart. What a wonderful combination of flavors, I highly recommend it.
I have to say, all in all, this meal was absolutely stupendous. Just being in this grand banking hall left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling! This beautiful atmosphere accompanied with great service, fantastic food equals a very happy Pierre. I must say that if you are looking for a wonderful experience, you should check out The Bank Brasserie & Bar in Vienna!
