When you think of Serbia, what comes to mind? You probably don’t think of luxury hotels and great food. For some reason, I’m drawn to places that I don’t know much about. I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised when I visited Belgrade this spring!

It all started with an hour-long flight from Bucharest, Romania. I arrived in Belgrade, went through customs and found my driver waiting for me with a Mr. Blake sign.
We hopped into their very slick shuttle that is equipped with Wi-Fi and set off to the Radisson Collection Hotel. A fairly short drive later and we arrived!
Walking into the hotel was simply stunning! This is definitely the most creative and beautiful Radisson that I’ve ever visited. It’s won all types of design awards and you’ll be able to see why, once you look at the photos. The building was originally an old mill and it was then converted into a hotel.
I was given a tour of the premises and explained about all of the features of the design. It’s really nice to have a tour to understand why something was done and to appreciate all of the small details in this hotel. Whether it’s the waves in the lobby to represent the rivers in Serbia or it’s the beautiful sculpture in the front that represents a perfect collision, it all looks great.
I love new hotels! This hotel is only about a year old and it shows. Walking into my beautiful room on the third floor, I was simply delighted. Fresh wooden floors throughout and a very cohesive design. I absolutely love the bedding. Very soft and comfortable with a lot of pillows.
The bathroom is connected to the room but with a few sliding doors that can give a privacy if it’s needed. All of the lighting, the exposed brick and the smooth feel give this room a really nice vibe.
This was the first Radisson that I’ve ever visited that also had an executive lounge. I am obsessed with these damn lounges. One of the great things about the lounge in Belgrade, was that you could access all types of beverages and food throughout the day! Amazing! No limits.
One of my favorite parts of brand-new hotels would be the gyms. The Radisson Collection Belgrade really did a great job with their gym and relaxation area. They have a perfectly designed sauna and steam room, which you know Pierre loves. Sometimes the steam rooms in other hotels aren’t quite hot enough but this one was nice and hot how I like it!
I love the dining room of this hotel too. It’s known as their OMB Larder restaurant which I also ate dinner at. You’ll be able to read about that in a separate article. Wink. The breakfast was solid. What I really liked was the local Serbian food. Pierre is a huge fan of meat, so he was delighted when he saw Serbian sausages for breakfast. They have both a buffet and a la carte options to choose from.
I stayed at the Radisson Collection in Belgrade for three great nights. It is a magical hotel. Overall, the hotel was quite nice but my only qualm with it, was the location. It’s a shame that such a beautiful hotel isn’t centrally located. For me it definitely was possible to walk to the city center but a bit farther than most would prefer. Everything else about this hotel was right on the money. The design is truly impressive, the service was great and I really enjoyed features like the executive lounge and steam room. If you’re looking for a beautifully designed hotel while in Belgrade, then I would check out the Radisson Collection.
