I’ve stayed at several Shangri-La hotels throughout the world and under the brand’s umbrella is Hotel Jen. Hotel Jen is a fresh and modern brand than caters to a younger audience. Singapore has two Hotel Jens and I stayed at the Tanglin branch. For this property, they really went out of their way to incorporate lots of artwork throughout the premises produced by a variety of international artists. They wanted to add a unique flavor to this property, and I think they’ve succeeded.

For my stay, I had a club room located on the 17th floor which is also where you can find the club lounge. When I opened the door, I felt a sense of calm and comfort. At first, it look like the bed was levitating, but silly me, this was just an impressive design. There was a built in sofa next to the window which turned out to be a good place to relax. The bed was comfortable, and I liked the simplicity of the headboard and bedding.
Moving into the bathroom, you’ll find a shower with great components but no bathtub.
Something about being on the same floor as the club lounge got me excited. The club lounge offers a full breakfast, afternoon snacks and tea as well as evening hors d’oeuvres and alcoholic beverages. Along the entire length of the lounge, there are large windows to take in the Singapore city view.
The club lounge had a great variety of food and the service was quite good. A unique feature to this lounge is that they offer more than just afternoon tea items in the afternoon they had a few salads to tide you over until dinner.
During my stay at the property, I had a chance to indulge at their dinner buffet at the J65 restaurant. I’m really happy that it happened to be lobster themed the night that I went! Apparently, they change the menu often so if you’re looking for something in particular, you should check their dining schedule. I tried to sample a little of everything, and I can honestly say they were very consistent with great tastes. One of my favorite items of the evening was their made to order Laksa! It was quite busy and I can completely understand why. Pierre recommended.
On the fourth floor of the property, you will find a very large outdoor pool as well as gym and spa. The gym was massive and all of the equipment was of great quality. While you work out, you can overlook the large outdoor pool.
As well as enjoying the steam room and sauna in the changing room, I also went for a full signature therapy spa treatment! The name of my treatment was called Ready Set Gold and included a full body massage with argon oil, Lucas face care and a scalp massage. The whole treatment lasted 105 minutes! I only got to take advantage of half of the facial because I forgot to shave that day, sad I know. The treatment rooms were lovely and the masseuse was a true professional. She did a great job and even though my muscles were incredibly tight, when I walked out, I felt like a relaxed new man!
To summarize, this hotel was lovely it offers practically all of the high-end features that the top Shangri-La properties offer, but in a much more trendy and modern design. The hotel isn’t so near any metro station but there are plenty of buses and of course there are always ride share services. Hotel Jen’s lounge put me in such a great mood, I’d insist you to get access as well. Overall, I definitely can recommend to you the Hotel Jen Tanglin in Singapore!
